First of all, the company is closing 4 Jan 08. They did not send out notices or anything. Second, I'm not getting the answers that I want to hear from customer service at the local store. They don't even have a number to the corporate office. That is just sad. I paid well over $1800 for this program and I was working with a lady named Sandy on getting a refund but that has a been another nightmare!!

To my surprise, I called Sandy back the next day and another lady told me that Sandy no longer works there. So I asked for a copy of my files and guess what, my folder is missing. Now, I'm suppose to fill out some refund form and 6-8 weeks which doesn't make me happy either. This has just been a nightmare but I will not stop until I get my refund. I also disputed this with my credit card company because I just signed up like 4 weeks ago and NOW THIS.

This company should never come back ever! I think they knew they were closing some time ago. Whats shady about the whole thing is that they still were allowing people to sign up.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Pure Weight Loss, LA Weight Loss - Both "all about the revenue."

AUTHOR: Jaded - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 03, 2008

I would like to say that I'm sorry that this has happened to you. I was a counselor for this company for over two years. I can honestly say that lots of counselors were trained to sell with only one thing on their mind...Money. Lots of files conveniently went missing. Asking for a refund a year ago was the same as it is now. Supervisors cringed at the word, "refund". Managers, too. They lost money from their paychecks due to them.

So, if your refunds were taking forever, those supervisors had to get yelled at by their bosses before actually sending any information. I know for a fact that some programs were refused to be refunded due what the contract stated...in many cases, those clients were lied to. And many center managers were told to make deals with clients to save the company's money. When in fact, it was your money that they were trying to keep. This company was out for your money from the start!

Did you ever see the special on 20/20? If not, see if you can look it up. "If they cry, they buy." That's just one thing that lots of counselors and managers said behind clients' backs. In trainings, we were told to really dig for information on why the clients were wanting to lose weight. Which only meant that we were supposed to ask questions that would eventually make the clients cry and break down in front of us. Which in turn, supposedly meant they would buy all the products necessary to lose the amount of weight they needed. That was ridiculous.

I was a horrible sales counselor that was always in trouble for looking out for what was best for the clients. I knew that clients didn't really need to have the overly priced products. They only needed guidance and someone that would listen to them about their weight loss challenges. It's what we do on a daily basis that affects our weight loss. Not what time we're taking our supplements or bars. It made me sick to my stomach whenever I was told to "maximize my sales". I didn't want to. My clients needed support and motivation to continue their weight loss. Not some young girl pushing them to purchase a 6-month supply of supplements.

So, due to my attitude towards this, I was treated differently than those that were set on taking money from "naive clients". It makes me sick to read all of these reports on this website. I honestly feel horrible for what this company has done to all the thousands of people across the nation. If you haven't received any information on how to reach customer service, the number is 1-877-524-3571. And if you can't get through, the email address is custservice@pureweightloss.com. It would be better to email since the customer service number is only playing some recorded message. Trust me, I've been trying to reach them by phone for weeks. I had to email them and make sure to include words like attorney, labor laws, rights, etc. I just can't believe that someone would actually scam you like that!! If you haven't contacted the Attorney General, or the BBB, do it now!

On a lighter note, the program actually does work. You don't have to have the bars at all. They seriously were just a way to get everyone's money...as the supervisors I worked for always said, "It's all about the revenue, guys!" Sad, right? You can find cheaper versions of those bars in grocery stores if you really feel that you need something to get your mind off of food for a minute.

Working for this company ruined a part of my life that I will never get back! Vahan Karian, Elaine Bussoletti, Chris Bernard, and all others should really be ashamed of themselves. As counselors, we were too busy running around in circles trying to figure out what would make our supervisors happy. While at the same time, make sure to help our clients lose the weight they needed to. One day, we're being told to be passionate when counseling clients. The next day, we were being told to be positive, upbeat, and always express how important it is to "stay on track". Then, we were told to be professional with our clients. If we were caught "chit-chatting" with clients about anything else other than weight loss, corrective action would be taken.

How can you be passionate about something when you're told to only "focus on the green"? Again, it is not about what time we take our pills or when we eat our bars. it's about what happens in our lives and how we deal with it. Unfortunately, food has become the most comforting hug for a lot of us. In the words said by an old friend of mine, "Food is not a hug." And neither is spending thousands of dollars on something that's just going to screw you out of being happy. Don't let that happen to you. Don't let what this company has done destroy your efforts.

Please do not think that all counselors were greedy. There was a select few of us that genuinely cared about what happened to our clients. The world is a cruel place and I can only hope that all of you will take what knowledge you have received about weight loss(if any) and continue to apply it everyday!!! Don't let this foolish company drag you down with it. If you still need to lose weight, take what you've got and run. If you're waiting on money to be returned to you. call an attorney and file a suit as soon as possible. I've given what information I could. I'm sorry it's not much but, for what it's worth, I wish you all the best of luck!
