Labs4Rescue, Killingly Connecticut, Ann Hiltchy Still up To Their Old Tricks - Stay AWAY Killingly Connecticut

I am a senior who has owned Labs all my life and live in what might be considered a paradise for Labs (water, acreage, no vehicular traffic, private). I live alone and lost my best friend a year ago and despite reading neg press on Labs4rescue, went ahead and completed the application (even added a donation for what I thought was a good cause). In most basic terms I was jerked around for 6 months and heard more excuses than a teacher does with homework assignments over a lifetime. The write up from 2012 said it best - they take your $ and break your heart. Still their same exact M.O. in 2017. Somthing always happens to the dog you want and even if you ok a dog they suggest, that one wont even come through. I feel I was really suckered by them and Ann is a master at it.

I ended up at a Humane Society. Their dogs are assesesd VERY thoroughly as to personality and match potential. They are examined, chipped, spayed, tested healthy come with shots and a leash collar and bag of food. The pup I selected was 275.00 total cost. I got to meet and greet, walk the dog and spend as much time as I wanted to with the dog and truly knowledgable techs and volunteers. I found the PERFECT match for just over half the cost. I will suggest you learn their protocol, when they post new dogs, how to sign in, what to do if you want a meet and greet as the first two dogs I was interested in were adopted while I was there figuring out what to do. I did go there 2 times before I found a friend. The Saturday I adopted there were 10 dogs posted at 9 a.m. and by 5p.m. all had been adopted. Several were Lab/ lab mix.

There are other Lab rescues around a few I corresponded with. I'd go elsewhere than Labs4rescue....
