I went to Lake Manawa Kia on 08/03/2013 to see if I could purchase a vehicle.  I worked with Ethan Downs and we looked at 2013 Kia Sportage I wanted to purchase.  I explained to Ethan I had already done my credit application 2 weeks ago online.  Ethan pulled up my credit application information and spoke with his finance director.  Ethan asked me what kind of car payment I was looking for.  I told Ethan I would like a car payment between $350 to $450. Ethan let me know I would need to have a down payment of $1200 if I wanted the 2013 Kia Sportage.  I let Ethan know I get paid twice a month on the 10th and 25th.  Ethan let me know they could hold my check for 20 days for my down payment so I could finance my car.  I agreed to the terms of Lake Manawa holding my check for 20 days for my down payment.  Ethan needed my paycheck stubs and bank statement and I didn’t bring them with me.

Let Ethan know I could bring them by on 08/05/2013 after I get off work.  Received call from Ethan on 08/05/2013 asking me to reschedule to come in on 08/07/2013 with the documents he needed because he had a family emergency.  I emailed documents requested by Ethan to his email address so he would have it before I came in on 08/07/2013. Came to Lake Manawa Kia on 08/07/2013 after I got off of work and worked with Estephen Lee.  Estephen Lee informed me that Ethan was sent home for the day because he was sick and he would assist me.  Estephen Lee went over the credit application process all over again.  He asked me for my paycheck stubs and bank statement requested.  I let Estephen Lee know I emailed them to Ethan Downs.  Estephen Lee contacts Ethan Downs at home to get his password to his computer to retrieve the requested documents he needed.  Estephen Lee let me know he was working with finance team regarding  financing for the 2013 Kia Sportage.

I waited in Lake Manawa Kia for two hours just for Estephen Lee to tell me the banks were closed and he would contact me on the morning of 08/08/2013.  On 08/08/2013 did not receive a call from Estephen Lee regarding status of financing the 2013 Kia Sportage.  I called  ake Manawa Kia and left messages  for Estephen Lee and Ethan Downs on 08/09/2013, 08/10/2013, 08/11/2013, and 08/12/2013.  Neither  Estephen  Lee or Ethan returned my phone calls.  I called Lake Manawa  Kia pn 08/13/2013 and asked for a manager.  I was transferred to a sales manager name John (JB) and I explained the level of customer service I received by Lake Manawa Kia and sales representatives Ethan Down and Estephen Lee.   John(JB) apologized for sales representatives Ethan Down and Estephen Lee not following up with me regarding the status of my loan application.  John(JB) provided me his cell phone number and told me I can contact him directly and I didn’t need to work with Ethan Downs or Estephen Lee anymore.  John(JB) let me know I shouldn’t be treated any different because credit is not perfect and they should have no problem financing the 2013 Kia Sportage.   I called John(JB) on 08/14/2013 to see if it was okay to come to Lake Manawa Kia regarding financing for the 2013 Kia Sportage after I got off work.  John (JB) let me know that it’s okay to come at that time.  Went to Lake Manawa Kia and worked with sales representative Dan Peck.

I was informed another employee of Lake Manawa and Dan Peck that sales representatives Ethan Downs and Estephen  Lee would not receive a commission on the sale of the 2013 Kia Sportage.  Sales representative Dan Peck gave excellent customer service and made sure I was taken care of until I got to financing team.  I spoke with a Paul in financing regarding the financing of the 2013 Kia Sportage.  He informed me that my car payment would be $542.00 a month.  I let Paul know that I explained to Ethan Downs and Estephen Lee I did not want a car payment over $450.  Paul let me know the financing company Exeter Finance Corp would only finance the 2013 Kia Sportage at $542 a month.  Paul had me sign my documents to purchase the vehicle and accepted my check of $1200 to hold for 20 days.  Paul let me know that Exeter Finance Corp does not allow a 20 day hold on down payment checks.  Paul told me if I wanted to keep my vehicle I needed to tell Exeter Finance Corp during my welcome call over the phone that I paid my down payment of $1200 with cash or a cashier check.  Paul let me know otherwise they will not finance my vehicle.

I had my welcome call with Exeter Finance Corp on 08/21/2013.  Exeter Finance Corp asked me how did I pay my down payment and I told them what Paul told me to tell them with cash.  I received a purchase survey from Lake Manawa Kia asking how their service was.  I rated Lake Manawa Kia poorly because of the level of customer service I received from the time I came into the dealership until dealing with their finance team.  I received a text message from senior sales manager Ronald Phillips saying I needed to call him before 6 pm or they was reporting my car stolen.  I called Ronald as soon as I received his text to see what was going on.  Ronald appeared upset about the survey I completed about the dealership.  Ronald let me know my financing did not go through for 2013 Kia Sportage because of my down payment.  Ronald began to tell me that he thought that Lake Manawa Kia gave me good customer service and he even washed my new car.  I asked Ronald why my financing didn’t go through.  Ronald would not explain why other then he needed to come by and pick up my vehicle with a tow truck.  I arrive home and parked the 2013 Kia Sportage and Ronald arrives with sales representative Estephen Lee apologizing and they drove off with the vehicle.  I called Lake Manawa Kia requesting to speak with a manager and I was transferred to John (JB).  He was very rude and getting loud with me because he was made about the survey I completed about their customer service.  John (JB) let me know I costed him $2000.  John (JB) let me know that the survey was about sales representative Dan Peck and I might have cost him his job.

I told John (JB) that survey was about my overall service for Lake Manawa Kia and I told him it wasn’t the best service.  John (JB) began to yell at me and said why I would want to do business with them if they give horrible customer service.  I asked John (JB) to transfer me to someone in the finance department so they could explain what was going on.  John (JB) refused at first to transfer me to the finance department and I told him I’m already filing a complaint with the better business bureau and then he transferred me to someone in the finance department.  I was told by the gentleman in the finance department that Exeter Finance Corp had called after my welcome call interview and wanted them to produce a receipt for my down payment within 30 minutes and they couldn’t produce a receipt.  He let me know that my application was flagged for verification and an audit was being done to protect against fraud and they have no way of knowing what applications are being flagged.  He explained not even Paul or himself was aware this was going to happen and apologized.

Bottom line

AUTHOR: Crucible - ()

Cutting through all of the fluff, what this comes down to is that you attempted to defraud the lender by lying about your down payment.   You got caught and the lender told you to take a hike.   End result, no new Kia.

Bottom line is that you could not get financing without lying about a down payment.   While I don't approve dealerships suggesting that their customers lie to lenders, it's ultimately you who decided to perpetrate the fraud.    The ability to make a down payment is a fundamental part of qualifying for a loan (as you have found out).  The days when it was routine to lie on a loan application ended around 2007.

BTW, just for future reference, when you write a check that has no funds to cover it, that is considered to be a phony check.  There is no such thing as a post-dated check.  If it doesn't have the funds when you hand it over, it's illegal and you can be prosecuted for it.

So because someone didnt get ahold of you in a time frame you felt it was nessasary to give them a bad review even given that the first sales person was sick? WOW exactly how much of the universe do you think revolves around you. From what I have read from your own posts the only real reason you posted them poorly was because they couldnt meet your payment budget. When you have horrible credit it can take awhile for a lending institution, and there are many, to decide you are worth the risk. That takes time.

It really looks like they did everything they could to help you and you turn around and post negativly about them. Potentually costing two ppl thier jobs and costing someone else two grand. Guess what, this is a YOU problem. Perhaps you need to seriously reconsider going out in public. There are consiquences to ANY action we do. In this case, you screwed yourself. Maybe next time try not to be such a very very poor customer. And I really and truly hope that Karma comes around and YOU get a situation where your job and money is put in jepardy because some nitwit finds fault with YOU.
