Mr. DeBrock came to my door in an effort to ask me about my roof. He said that he could probably get me a new roof without any money out-of-pocket to me because there was hail damage in the area. I had already had a claim with my insurance company. Mr. DeBrock took measurements of my roof and when he was finished wanted to see my insurance claim papers to be able to give me an estimate. I told him I didn't believe he needed my insurance information or detailed claim, to give me a quote and I refused to give them to him. He accepted my refusal and told me it would take about a week to give me an estimate. So, I waited on the estimate. Three weeks later, still no estimate. I have obtained other estimates from roofing companies that did not ask for my insurance claim information (which they should have to have this information to give an estimate). The estimates were given to me that same day. I would beware of this company because it seems that they may be trying to extort money from homeowners from roof damage - well, as much money as they can possible get. I just felt that this practice of asking me for my personal insurance information prior to an estimate, was unethical!!

First let me say that the people of Land Roofing are at no fault here whatsoever.  I own a roofing company in Oklahoma and this is common practice for any successful roofer.  When a homeowner gets insurance on their home they agree to a deductible amount that is sound with their financial situation.  This deductible should 100% be an obligation. Most of the time we know going in that the H/O (homeowner) does not want to pay this.  So if you have a $1,000 deductible then the H/O should assume that there will be out of pocket expense.  It seems like just another H/O trying to perform insurance fraud.  Yes, call your agent and ask him/her, profiting from your claim is ILLEGAL.  Then you take it a step further and slander the name of someone who is simply trying to provide a service in which you are too ignorant to understand.  Have you ever wrecked a vehicle.  Most likely your insurance co. sent an adjuster's summary straight to the body shop.  So what is the difference.  If you want me to remedy the situation as fast as possible then come off of your paperwork or go with an uneducated roofer who will give you a low bid, no warranty, illegal labor, and so on.  It's amazing to me that people are so ignorant about protecting most likely the biggest investment they have ever made.  Clearly Mr DeBrock is the extortionist here.  Shame on you for being so angry about what you don't understand.  If the insurance company sets a fair market value then why would a quality roofer with countless references settle for anything less.

So Mr DeBrock, my question for you is do you want to play by the rules? Yes or no?

If yes, then how much is your deductible? Oh its $500. Then my estimate for your out of pocket expense is $500 and you can sign over the insurance checks to me.

If, no, then you are a walking, talking, typing, slandering contradiction.

To the entire staff at Land Roofing, yes we have never met, but people like this drive me nuts.  Keep your head up and kill these kinda people with kindness.  "Cover their heads with honey and the bees will swarm!"

First off there is no way possible that Land Roofing could extort money from your insurance company.  your insurance company will not speak to any contractors, unless you personally call in and tell them they are allowed to speak with them. There is no way to extort money.  your insurance company makes a check out to you and you only.

At land Roofing, we deal with your insurance company directly.  we do your roof for whatever your insurance pays, nothing more, nothing less.  We do not get into the bidding game with other roofing companies.  It is up to the sales person on whether or not they want to give an estimate.  Looking at the homeowners summary saves the sales rep from having to measure out the whole roof, gutters, siding, painting etc.  It save them also from about 3-4 hours of their time. If the homeowner is taking bids from every company in town and trying to keep as much of their insurance money as possible, why would we waste our time? Actually, If anybody is wrong it is the homeowner whom is trying to make money off of her insurance company.  This is completely illegal.  If you have money left over from your insurance company, legally, you are supposed to send it back to your insurance company.

There is nothing illegal about this what so ever.  Mr DeBrock did give her an estimate after all, it just took him a little longer than a week.

Mrs Sally has made false accusations about our company on every site possible, when we have done nothing wrong.  We have already contacted our attorney on this matter and we are taking the necessary steps to keep her from any further wrong doing or slander against our company
