Landmark at Deerfield Glen Apartments are the worst place I've ever lived!!!! I moved in February 6, 2015 and discovered mold and mildew after cleaning the apartment before moving in the next day. The next morning I reported it to the Assistant Property Manager, Sheryl and the only thing said " there's nothing we can do today (which was Saturday) so come back Monday to report it. So throughout the weekend I found more problems inside the apartment such as; unusual musty mildew smells, mold in storage room around the AC/Heat unit and master bathroom linen closet, rusty leaking pipes under sinks, rotten wood smell in kitchen cabinets, fleas in carpeted rooms, and bad unleveled floors.

I didn't get any response from the Property Manager, Susan Hyche after10 days of our moving in and reporting everything that needed repairs especially the mold issues. So I took it upon myself and did some research on Alabama Landlord-Tenant Laws for the sake of my health and safety which was at risk as well as my daughter's. We both have asthma and allergies and can't live here under these circumstances, therefore I made a complaint with the Jefferson County Department of Health and Hoover Building Inspection office to come out and investigate my apartment.

It is amazing how fast things get done once you call and report issues like this and deliver a written notice to the landlord specifying the acts and omissions constituting the breach of my lease and if not remedied within 14 days then my rental agreement shall terminate. Well maintenance came in and repaired ( half repaired ) and changed out the the mold drywall/sheetrock but still there is the smell of mold and mildew especially when it's hot or rains which has caused flare-ups of my asthma and allergies to point I have been to my doctor twice for environmental allergy tastings and wheezing/coughing.

My doctor has advised me to move out as soon as possible to prevent more flare-ups or asthma attacks. So now in the process of looking for another apartment which is causing me more money to spend out. I went to the rental office and spoke with Susan, Property Manager about the mold causing health issues for my daughter and me and that we have to terminate our rental agreement and I was told we can move but you will have to pay 4 months rent to buy- out the lease. So now my question is who do I call now about my situation. Calling the Landlord and emailing the regional manager time after time is a waste of my time because they will not return calls or emails. Something needs to be done about this company and these inhabitable apartments.
