Hired for small home improvement job (installing lights) which led to further work. Eventually contracted to paint interior and exterior, tile bathrooms, install plumbing in baths and kitchen, install backsplash, replace closet doors, vent covers, bathroom hardware, etc...

Received intermittent pics of work and paid periodically as work was "completed". I am remote and not able to physically be onsite to inspect.

Last items included full contract for fixed price and completion date. Half $$ paid upfront, remaining to be paid upon completion on completion date. Completion date was missed (by weeks) and request for payment was made on agreed upon date. When refused "his crew" packed up and left; still unfinished. Explained that "Paid upon completion" means everything is completed, then payment is made. After negotiating with "his team" they returned and said that they would complete everything "that day" followed by video conf. When time for video conf / inspection was due he stated "it wouldn't work for him" because he was "busy with another job". Payment was made (stupid!).

Found after realtor went to home that the work was horrible! Unfinished tile, uneven tile, grout not cleaned AT ALL, plumbing not connected, toilet left in bedroom, lots of purchased hardware not installed (apparently stolen), full rooms to be tiled were left untouched and NO CLEANUP whatsoever!

They removed locks from doors and refused to return keys until further payment was made for "unexpected additional work". Thousands of $$ of repair directly related to this work is needed. Pursuing legal reparations.
