Being new to buying anything online, when my distributor went out and I was unable to find a used one locally, online became my only option. I found a distributor through Landress for $100. Their website stated that all parts were cleaned and TESTED and I checked with the BBB and they are accredited through them, so I bought the distributor.

When the distributor came I was unable to find someone to put it on right away and it took about 3 weeks for my son-in-law to find the time. I didnt even open the box it came in, he did. He told me that it was in worse shape than the one on my car. It had a bolt broken off in it, it was rusted inside and out and it looked as if it had been exposed to salt water. Being unable to even remove the broken off bolt, he turned it over to my brother.

My brother and my father both having mechanical experience both worked on it for several hours and both came to the conclusion that: Once they finally got the bolt off... It was definitly exposed to salt water and possibly from a Katrina car and hence was not CLEANED and it was rusted so badly that it was seized up and there was no way they could have TESTED it.

I filed a complaint with the BBB and the response that Landress made was as follows. We cannot help that Leslie had personal problems and that is not our fault. Had she contacted us with in the 30 day warrenty period we could have helped her.

I never blamed them for my problem to find some one to put it on. My point is that Their original guarentee is that it is cleaned and tested and that was not true. The 30 day warrentee is supposed to be pertaining to a cleaned and tested part that is put on a car and then quits or brakes, as far as I understand it. While I may never get my $100 back I am going to make a point to tell as many people as I can about how Landress Auto Wrecking Ripped Me Off!!!

You're Being Silly

Companies have a warranty period. For all they know, you left it out in the rain. Warranty terms exist to bind people to obligations. If their warranty is clearly worded to be good for 30 days, then the onus is on you to check the dadgum thing out within 30 days of getting it!
