I bought a 2002 VW Jetta from Lang Autosports on November 16th 2012. When I took it on a test drive I noticed there was a misfiring between first and second gear. I said I was concerned about the car having a bad transmission, and was told that I just don't know German engineering, that it is just a spark plug and they would gladly replace it for me. My boyfriend really wanted the car, and was told it was going to be fixed; so I believed them and bought the car, but made sure that on my contract it states that the misfire would be fixed. Since then, they had my car for over 21 days from November 17th to mid January, they replaced a few things on the car but nothing was fixing the issue, and it was getting much worse over time. Finally they found that it was in fact the transmission, and said they would fix it, told me that it would take 5 days. On day 3 I called to check the status of car, and was told that they don't have a transmission, can't order one and since it is over $3,000 to fix that they are not going to do it. And then informed me I needed to come get the car. When I came to pick up my non working car than I owe over $5,000 on the whole passenger side of the car had 3 to 4 inches of standing (frozen) water in it, the battery had been replaced with one that was no longer working, there was a huge dent on the hood of the car and a few other things. I asked what had happened to my car and they said they think the heater core went out, but didn't offer to clean the mess they left or fix anything else that happened on their property. I later asked for an invoice of the work that had previously been done and was denied that, in fact was given an attitude and was yelled at for even asking for it. A week later I called my insurance carrier because I didn't know what to do about all the additional damage (let alone the transmission that didn't work). They came out and looked at it, and a report was filed. My insurance company had spoken to Lang Autosports and I was informed they were not helpful to them either. I then contacted the Attorney General and filed a report with them, which the company refused to respond to. After I saved up enough money I took the car down to a VW repair company and was at first informed that the total repairs were going to be $2700. I took this information back to the dealership and they still refuse to take any kind of responsibility for anything. So I informed my mechanic to go ahead with the repairs as I will be taking the issue to small claims. Once he was working on the car; he found that the "mechanic" that worked on the transmission before him had messed it up so badly that the whole thing now has to be replaced as it cannot be resealed. I again informed management of Lang Autosports, but guess what? They still refuse to do anything. Now, mind you when we found out that that it was the transmission, I said they can take the car back and we can trade it for something of equal value that does have a working transmission. They told me they would only take the car back for the value of the car right now (which would be basically nothing since it doesn't work), and then they offered $1000, and said they could up my car loan to cover the rest. When I sign a contract with someone and they promise to repair a major issue with the car, and then refuse to...this is called a breach of contract. Needless to say with out one word from the owner (who REFUSES to contact me) I will be taking this to court once all the damage is repaired. I have all my documentation, and will be having all text, emails, and notifications subpoenaed to court. Granted, I would love nothing more than for this to be handled outside of court, but again they absolutely refuse to discuss anything with me.
