I gave Laptop Ready a Toshiba Laptop for diagnosis; on November 20, 2006 they indicated that the Active Digitizer & Inverter Board required replacement; that the total cost was $295.00.I agreed to have the repairs completed (based on their diagnosis) and paid Laptop Ready the $295.00 (upfront). Repairs were never completed and they were to refund the $295.00 to my credit card. I never received the refund.

I took the Toshiba Laptop to another repair shop for diagnosis and found that the Active Digitizer & Inverter Board was not the problem; the stylist pen was defective. The stylist pen was replaced and the laptop now works as it should. This misdiagnosis is common with the other problem I had with Laptop Ready, another laptop, a Dell which they indicated the hard drive had been changed from a 40GB to a 2GB.

Once again, I took thir word that this was the problem and on or about December 28, 2006 I authorized the replacement of the hard drive. I requested that they save the hard drive so it could be examined; when I picked up the Dell it did not work properly and therefore; I had to return it to them for additional work.

When the old hard drive was examined it showed a label 40GB; which is what I thought was its volume. When I advised them of this they simply indicated that it was not 40GB but a 2GB and that someone had replaced the 40GB with a 2GB again, when I told them that the hard drive they removed was labeled 40GB they would not believe it.

To determine who was correct, I contacted the hard drive manufacture Hitachi Global Storage Technologies and sent them a scanned label; and in reply to my query they stated that The drive label looks to be authentic and the part number (07N8665) traces to Compaq as a 40GB capacity travelstar 40GN... so, from appearances, it seems authentic. Hitachi Global also provided the following information: Have you tried using our 'feature tool' to determine if the drive capacity has been limited? You can also find the Hitachi serial number listed in the drive details section of the tool. If this is the case, we can match the internal s/n to verify it matches the product type. There is a user manual posted with the download at:hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#FeatureTool.

Needless to say I could not perform this task, as the hard drive was not in the laptop. In a later conversation with Hitachi Global I learned that someone had limited the hard drive volume to 2GB and all Laptop Ready had to do was reset it volume.

I have requested refunds for both the Tobshia and the Dell but they have refused to even talk with me. I am now forced to go to court.

Please do not use this company in any of their locations, as you will surely get ripped off.
