I originally was charged for their non shipment policy even though I notified them I had shipped it, they told me that was automatic so beware of that,,  they did refund that but the words that say they charge it  was not appearing on the page when I requested a shipping label all it said was free all over the place, I got an email because I had a family emergency and was a bit slow to ship it that is when they told me if I did not send it within 30 days I would be charged a 29 dollar fee for non shipment I still have all the emails, it was there before the 30 day period, nor did it show the fine print so small I  can barely read with it magnified   that says it will cost you an arm and a leg to get it back if you don't want to spend the hiked up prices to repair it , if you can in fact get them to return it, after numerous emails they did not reply to I called in several times and finally got a quote to repair the computer which was more than I spent for a new computer  I know I was having a problem with charging the battery when it went in, but they said it was totally not booting, and would need a new motherboard,  I changed the motherboard  on these same laptops since myself simple to do, I have a few of them and I bought a Motherboard off ebay having not done it before it took me a whole 30 minutes to change it they wanted a couple of hours labor to do it,, , plus 2 times as much as I have been quoted for a new motherboard, for that computer either way it would have needed a new motherboard, I was under the impression they repaired computers there and that they are not just parts exchangers,     I still have not got it back they keep saying I need an invoice and will send it but don't fortunalely i accidently misplaced their web page just before shipping and while searching for the web page  I saw this page the day I was going to ship it to them so just in case I removed the large ram I installed and put in a single 500 mb strip, removed my hard drive and monitor, and dvd drive it booted up fine plugged in to a stand alone monitor, after taking all that out,  prior to shipping just in case all the reports were true ,, now they can blame an unhappy customer whatever story they can dream up to post in rebuttle but the fact still remains it seems to be a calculated ripoff to get your laptop or make a lot of money off you if you are not stupid enough to pay their high prices, to repair it, the prices to return it is as much as a repair, locally, if they will or you can get them to return it.  I now believe all the reports of ripoff are true, and I believe they are out to steal your laptop, working or not there are still a lot of parts that are worth good money for sale or use on some fool that pays computer, or charge you a lot of money to get it back if you can get them to send it, otherwise I would have my computer back now they say they will offer to buy your laptop if you don't repair it didn't happen

Mutilated????????????

AUTHOR: ABRG - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, January 23, 2010
the Laptop was not Mutilated, I merely removed parts that unbolt or unplug   after I made the order, I was  reading so many complaints from people complaining on several different sights  about  being  ripped off by them I was worried I got to thinking I decided to cut my loss they charge almost 30 dollars if you don't send it ,so  just in case I removed everything that was not absolutely necessary,   the mother board was operational,   it just would not operate off the battery, that is why I was sending it in,   it would work fine using ac adapter when it left here. According to him it was completely dead, go figure. . ,

I have been building computers since before they came out with a hard drive and you had to park the internal storage to move them or it would skip and damage the disk ,and modem ,and had real floppy's 5 1/4 inch . I can exchange parts just as well. I did not damage the unit , and there were a lot of good parts on it I use these laptops often I do all my own repairs except Motherboard repairs, as I have 4 of the same exact ones my daughter has 1 ,, I use these on a Machine I built to edit digital video, the unit would work when it left here, if you simply plugged a monitor in to the external monitor plug.

I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THEY REPAIRED COMPUTERS had I known they were parts exchangers I never would have sent it. I do know companies that have the real ability of repair and can repair the Motherboard. since originally sending in this one a different .one had a Mother board fail , having myself never having done a Motherboard swap before on these it took  me 30 minutes and it was up and running with a new Mother board I bought for a little more than what they want to look at it. I have built laptops and desktops from scratch for too many years to remember how long.     I finally after numerous emails , was sent numerous blank invoices which I print key, and pasted in  paint   and saved each one  they were blank.  finally many weeks I was later sent out a ridiculous bill for doing nothing . He may think looking at it as was work I do not .

Laptop Rescue has over 15,000 Happy Customers Per Year

AUTHOR: Chris - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 23, 2010

Laptop Rescue repairs over 15,000 laptops per year, with a 99.8% satisfaction rate.  Inevitably, out of those 15,000 customers per year there are always a few that are simply not reasonable people and no matter how hard we try they simply can not be made happy.  I'm sure you know people like this in your life.

In this case, the customer sent us a completely mutilated laptop.  It had no screen, no keyboard, no hard drive, no CD drive and it appeared in the customer's act of tearing it apart he made the motherboard problem even worse and beyond repair. He admits he sent it in this state in his posting here.

As far as the shipping and diagnostic charges, all of these are posted clearly at the bottom of every page on our web site and in our terms of service which each customer must agree to when they check out.  We never want a customer to be surprised or upset over any fees we charge.

In order to stay in business, we have no choice but to charge for shipping and diagnostic if a customer backs out of a repair because we have to pay UPS to ship the laptop plus the cost of the special foam lined laptop shipping container as well as pay our employees to process and diagnose the laptop.

For a comparison, Geek Squad charges a $79 diagnostic fee where as our diagnostic is free when customer agrees to pay for a repair, and only $29.95 if a customer declines the repair.  The UPS store charges $29 for the same foam lined laptop shipping container that Laptop Rescue sells for only $14.95.

Finally, this customer's claim that we are trying to steal peoples laptops is simply ludicrous.  If this were true there is no way we could stay in business these past 3.5 years.  The bottom line is we are a good company with happy customers.
