After some research I chose this dentist to be my family dentist. Boy what a mistake. When I went in for my initial appt I explained to the receptionist I had Delta Dental and that my husband was active duty military. I understand how Delta Dental works because I have delt with them for many years. I want NO procedures performed without my EXPRESSED APPROVAL because I have delt with previous dentists that have performed dental procedures that were not covered by Delta Dental and that we live on a budget and cannot afford any unseen bills right now. The receptionist said she understood this. The hygenist informed me during my initial consultation that I would need a scaling or deep cleaning, I informed her I knew my insurance would only cover that every two years and that I had just had it done a little over a year ago and that she needed to contact them and find out when it would be covered again. She said she would contact our insurance company and find out.


She then called me and informed me that our insurance company said they would cover it with no cost to me. I replied with are you sure because I know how misunderstandings could happen and she assured me that they told her it would be covered. I then agreed to make the appt for the cleaning. When I went in for the cleaning I again asked her if she was sure this was covered and she assured me she had spoke to my insurance company and it would be fully covered. After the appt about 3 weeks later I received a bill for 198.00 for the cleaning.

I then telephoned Dr. Adams office and spoke to a new receptionist and I explained this entire situation to her, I then added that I was not trying to get out of the bill...I was willing to set up a payment plan to pay it but I wanted them to be aware of what I was told. She then explained to me that the previous receptionist I spoke with no longer worked there and that she would speak to the doctor if i could hold. WHen she returned she literally told me the Doctor believed me to be lying. I was shocked. I explained to her that I am not lying and that I was told that on more then one occasion that this would be fully covered. And that I did'nt appreciate being called a liar.

She stated that I was just trying to "get out of paying" and I again replied I just said I wasnt trying to get out of paying but I just wanted them to know what I had been told. She just replied with well the doctor believes you are being untruthful. AT this time I was so angry I told them good luck getting a dime outta this lying patient and just hung up. I know I probably havent handled this as I should have but It just amazes me how a dentist can be so arrogant and distrustful and still charge his patients rediculous amounts. THe reason I am writing this is because I want someone else to be aware of what he does and to not take their word for ANYTHING!! Call your insurance company yourself and get their word for it besides they are writing the checks for your services!!
