Feb 07, 2006, I was aproached by a salesman. I instructed them I was looking for a black SUV costing no more than $13,000. There were no retail values on any vehicle they showed me. The very first vehicle they (2 salesmen now) showed me was an '03 Jeep Liberty Renegade. After seeing a few other vehicles as well I was interested in the Jeep. We went inside to negotiate price and I was shown a figure of $22,000. I was appauled and insulted.
My daughter and I got up to leave, salesman took my personal vehicle keys and refused to return them so I may leave. Extremely high pressured sales. Long story short they talked me into $18,000 out the door after 3.5 hours of harassment, lies, refusing me my keys, confusion, frustration etc.
My child and I were so exhausted, and I confused when we finally went back to sign papers. Once again thre pressure started with Justin insisting I purchase an extended warrentee. I now believe he was doing this while throwing legal papers at me to sign. I just signed the darned things while trying to shut his voice out, and my daughter and I go the heck out of there.
Next morning I realized what had happened with the paper work. I was charged an aditional $8,000 over retail value. I returned immediately to the dealership.
Long story short again, I have been back to the dealership 3 times and to the service center for repairs twice and still have unrepaired problems. My extended warrantee so far has not covered any of it!
I have already been through the BBB with this situation and got nowhere. My next step is the Legal system.
There is much more to this complaint which I will be happy to share (I don't want to run out of writing space).

similar situation in illinois
AUTHOR: Victor - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, February 28, 2006
I had a similar situation happen in Chicago. I went to look at a new car got pressured into looki ngat a few things. One i saw i kind of liked so I gave the dealer the keys to my car car so they could bring it in to appraise for trade in value. Well after giving me a number that was ridiciouly low for trade in and the prince of the car i was looking at jumped another $3500 in the blink of an eye, I told them i wasnt interested. SO i requested my keys back. Well now they couldnt find them and on top of it my car was in the service bay on a lift with "no one around to get it down" all the while they are trying to get me in this new car by offering to reduce the price, give me warranty. I was growing weary and after an hour of not gettign my keys back and car still on the rack. I said I need to make a call. Right in the middle of the showroom I called 911 from my cell phone told the opertor whatwas going on. All of the salesmen and managers juast thought i was on the phone with a friend of wife. Boy were they surprised when a marked squad car showed and they asked for me by name. Everybody was in awe so i pointed out the salesman. And within 10 minutes I had my car keys, the car was off the rack and they even gave it a wash. Basicly the cop told the salesman and his manager that if the car wasnt returned instantly thay they were both going to be arrested for motor vehicle theft and he had his hands on the handcuffs just waiting for it. Gave me a sense of appreciation. Next tim ea dealer wont return the keys just make a call to the police and see how fast you keys and car are returned.
