I found this company called Latite Roofing on the internet and decided to give them a try The company contacted me and came out for a free estimate and I signed the paper work for the repairs. The person that did the estimate confirmed the leaks and told me that he would take care of it.

A few days later two workers came to my house and after spending a few minutes looking at the paper work from the original estimate they said the estimate was not done correctly and that I had a pipe leak and that it was not caused by a leak in the roof.

The total repair cost was approximately $2,500.00 and they asked for $2,000.00 up front which was paid without questions. The worker gave me back $1,000.00 and said it will not cost as much considering that its an issue with the pipe.

I told him that I dont think the other issue would cost $1000.00 since its such a small leak. They asked me if I wanted to cancel the contract and I told them that I would rather them redo the estimate and move forward, but the supervisor wanted to charge me $275.00 for telling me that the pipe was the issue. Even though the guy that did the original estimate should have told me this, they still wanted to charge me. I told them that I will not pay it.

They agreed to take $100.00 instead. I believe that they were unprofessional in the way they handled it. Im ok with them keeping the $100.00 and redoing the estimate if they would just apologize and admit that they made a mistake.

I was contacted by the Vice President who still refused to apologize to me and said they handled the situation the best way they could.  Stay away from this company. The employees dont speak highly of each other and its my opinion that they should never speak badly about each other in the presence of a customer.

Latite Roofing & Sheet Metal Prides Itself On Excellent Customer Service

AUTHOR: Barbara Struve, Loss Control Manage - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Latite Roofing & Sheet Metal, LLC is one of the largest and most reputable roofing contractors in the State of Florida, on both residential and commercial roofing projects.  The reputation was earned through consistently providing quality products and excellent customer service.  Unfortunately, like
all businesses, some customers are never satisfied no matter what efforts are taken.  In this matter, we made an initial visit to this home on July 17th, 2012 to provide an estimate for repairs to the roof.  We were shown three general areas on the ceiling and walls where it was apparent that water was causing damage.  We proceeded onto the roof to view and inspect where the water was entering the residence.  It was obvious that someone previously attempted repairs to this roof unsuccessfully, which we documented through photos of the roof.  Normally, we would climb into the attic to inspect the areas where leaks were reported, however, access to the attic was denied by a tenant who occupies the rear of the home, which is the only place to access the attic.

Based on our observations, an estimate for $2,550.00 to repair the leaks was provided, which the homeowners accepted. As requested, the homeowner paid a $2,000.00 deposit, with the balance to be paid upon completion of the work.  The repairs were scheduled for August 2, 2012 and Latite mobilized to the project on that date to perform the repairs.  At that time, one of our technicians went in the attic and discovered that one of the leaks was actually coming from a broken pipe in the attic, and not the roof.  As a result, we returned half of the $2,000.00 deposit to the customer, and offered to perform whatever repairs were necessary for the roof on a time and material basis, which is consistent with industry standards for this type of work.  Plus, this would have saved the customer money.

Instead of allowing us to proceed with the remaining repairs we were there to perform, the homeowner demanded that we de-mobilize from the project, return to our office, and prepare a new written estimate.  The remaining $1,000.00 deposit was returned.  We requested a fee of $275 for our time spent mobilizing to the project, beginning repairs which led to the discovery that one of the leaks was not from the roof, and then being turned away and asked to come back another day.
The request was not unreasonable based upon the time and effort spent, which was worth much more.  The homeowner refused to pay the fee requested, but ultimately paid $100.00, which we accepted as full payment for the time and expense incurred.  By agreeing to accept $100 as full payment Latite went above and beyond in making this concession which we feel was more than fair.

We take exception to the assertion that our company or its employees acted unprofessionally, and feel this posting should not be relied upon by anyone as it is an unfair and untrue assessment of our character, and an inaccurate statement of what actually happened.
