This is hilarious! So a little over a week ago I posted a dress for $50 on Craigslist. Not even 3 minutes after I post the dress, this "Laurie Henkel" responded to me and told me she was highly interested. I asked her if she was in my area and told me she was from Ohio. She told me once I gave her my address, she will send a money order for the $50. I gave her an address to send to her. Afterwards, I didn't hear from her for about 3 days. She then emailed me again to tell me she was still interested and that she was out of town and was putting the money order in the mail later that evening. A couple of days after THAT, she emailed me to tell me she was reveiwing her account and HER SECREATRY OVERPAID ME WHILE SHE WAS OUT OF TOWN AND SHE WANTS ME TO PLEASE, WHEN I RECIEVE THE MONEY ORDER, TO DEDUCT MY FEE AND IMMEDIATELY SEND HER BACK HER MONEY! Ok, weird. But I'm thinking lets see how far this goes. So its been over a week and still no money. She emails me this morning 8/12/2010 with the following email. See below:
Dear Mitchelle,as i speak with you i am in a specialist hospital in the UK where my son has been admitted for a surgery.The surgery was a success though but he is weak. He is my only child. I do need all the prayers and good wishes i can get for his survival. Please include him in your prayers.His name is James,5yrs. I spoke with the USPS and i was informed that payment was routed to a wrong location.However,its has been corrected and en route to you now.I was assured of its delivery today. But i am sorry for this delay in remitting payment to you.I would love you to deduct $10 for any inconvenience caused by the delay and for your honesty. Please send my balance via WESTERN UNION Below is where i would love the remaining balance sent to here in the UK through western union. I called western union and i was informed that there will be a fee to send the money via WESTERN UNION,deduct this fee from my money. Please take this information below to any western union office/shop and ask them to send the money to the information: NAME : Laurie Henkel Address : Queen Elizabeth Military Hospital,Stadium Road City : London Post Code : SE18 4QH Country : England Please let me know when i can send UPS to come for the pick-up of the merchadise. Or let me know if you prefer to mail yourself.If so,kindly mail to the return address on the USPS envelope. My mom will be there to receive it. Thank you very much Waiting to hear from you ************************************** Indeed, I received the money order that day! Before I opened the express mail envelop, I noticed that it was sent from an address in Ohio from MJ Clothing and Accessories. I google mapped that adress and its a highway in Ohio. The money order was for $945!!! "Wow, your secretary REALLY overpaid me!" Hmph! The money order is made out to my name, and signed my ANOTHER name other that Laurie Henkel, and using a Boston, Mass. address in which I google mapped and it does exist! Also, the money order says Money Gram International Money ORder and dated 7/2/2010. I only posted my merchandise just a week ago. The "money order" is soooooooo light-weight and LIGHT printed. Listen, you CAN'T fool a Brooklyn Girl. I'm happy I have the smarts and a natural bone for investigating!!!! |
