I signed up for a free trial of POSLavu and was required to enter my credit card details. Duirng the sign up I received an error message and an account was never created. I waited to see if there would be any notification and meanwhile found point of sale software that worked well, which I still use today in three cafes.

When I checked my credit card bill I found the charge of £800 and contacted POSLavu. A very nice person named Tiffany said that there had been some error, that they had recieved the money, but as no account had been created, I was never notified. She said she would get the accounts to sort out a refund. Accounts said they couldn't help because my credit card had since expired. I said that I would accept Paypal or any other payment gateway that they chose. They refused to refund me.

I tried Tiffany again and she got the CEO of POSLavu to contact me. He was particularly unhelpful.

I have been charged for a service that I never received. My advice is do not sign up for their free trial. Do not deal with this company, they acknowledge wrong, but refuse to rectify it. It is an unethical company.

Issue fully resolved

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, June 07, 2016

Bridget O'Rourke, Customer Service Director of POS Lavu Inc., sent through a full refund today via Paypal. I don't know why it took so long, but now believe that there was no ill intent. I imagine that in a fast growing company with a lot of competition, the case of an unexplained and unique webserver glitch kept slipping down the priority list.

Bridget dealt with the case with tact and perseverance, occasionally letting me know that she was still working on it.

I take back my assertion that the company is unethical. I now think they are just overworked.

Reply to POSLavu 5 October 2015

On 5 October 2015 I sent the following replay to POSLavu:

Hello Alexis,

Thank you for your prompt response. I do recall the attempts to pay. I have received payments from other companies, individuals and have made transfers myself with this bank account. I don’t understand how a billing system being unable to make payments via Paypal is a valid excuse. As I have stated before, I am happy to receive the refund through any gateway or bank. Perhaps we could try again?

I provide you with the international banking details for three bank accounts in three different countries below:

[information removed]

Please let me know how and when you have made the payment.

Cheers,

Michael

Two weeks later and I haven't received a reply or a refund.

Lavu Response

AUTHOR: B. O'Rourke - Director Customer Support, Lavu - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, October 02, 2015
First of all, thank you for taking the time to report this incident. As you may recall, the payment in question was collected in April 2012. Lavu Inc. attempted to refund you via wire transfer in January 2013, which failed. We attempted to contact you afterward and were unable reach you.

When you contacted Lavu in May 2013, we again attempted to issue the refund twice via wire transfer, and both attempts failed. We captured and sent to you a screen shot of the error, which stated that the IBAN was incorrect. We would be happy to provide this to you again.

The billing system at Lavu isn't able to issue refunds via Paypal, which you also requested.

We understand your frustration with this matter, but we have sincerely tried to refund your money to you; however, we would still be happy to resolve this. Please contact us at billing@lavu.com, or call us 8am-5pm MST at 1-855-528-8457 and we can work to get you a refund.
