We have been contacted by Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay about a DirecTV balance that is due. We settled this matter in full over four years ago and are now receiving another letter. Personally I think the letter looks like a scam letter and I tried to contact their office and cannot get anyone on the phone.
DirecTV had purchased Primestar and then our billing went through Pegasus and then that went out of business and so on. What a mess. We stayed with them through all of this and this is the thanks we get.
So my question is. This matter was settled so long ago and we have moved once and the paperwork has gotten thrown away for the payment. How do we prove that we paid this and make sure that it does not end up on our credit report? I have just written a letter to this collection company and will wait for a response, but wanted to let people know about this one too.
