Trader as a buyer. I signed up for lease trader, they put me down for a two month subscription before I authorized them to do so. Nothing I could do about it, but figured I might actually use it. I was wrong.

They will not let you contact the leasee unless you apply for their credit check. First off they performed a hard credit check, when it should have been a soft inquiry. They looked at my credit and denied me for reasons that were not
relevant. I dont use credit very often so before their credit check I had almost an 800 credit score and somehow their inquiry knocked me down to a 725.

Their reasons for denying me credit were for time since most recent account opening was too short, the number of established accounts, too many accounts recently opened and length of time for established accounts. When I called and inquired as to why I had been denied they would not acknowledge why stating that I had a low credit score. I said that I pulled it and nothing matched the reasons why I was denied. The Equifax report stated that Ive had credit for 4.5 years, my last account was opened a year ago, and I have three established accounts. Then he proceeded to tell me that because I pay down my balance every month that I was not a good candidate. Their representatives were very rude. Its funny because I was approved for three leases in the weeks leading up to this. FCRA should be notified of these wrong practices.

If you are a seller, I would warn you not to list with this company because they do not approve their qualified customers for their own credit report.

confused and frustrated

AUTHOR: merick - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, April 15, 2012

i posted my truck on LT. late in 2012.. i really felt confident they were the right choice to help out of my lease.. i still have my truck and never had 1 single person interested in my truck.. i paid the gold status fee. whatever that means,, it sounds great! but what ever.. i paid ,to me, a pretty good chunk to not have 1 person ever all this time? when asked they wanted more money to give me a better listing and more exposure,,i thought the initial 150.00 plus the monthly fee was what it took to succeed? first they said my asking monthly payment was so great ,,i will have no problem getting a buyer. and then they said it was a little to high, it was what my actual payment is? so i reduced to the amount they suggested. and then the more money for better listing ..bla bla.. i asked to cancel ..402.00 for a toyota 4x4 2011, with no down payment seems like a great deal.. 27k truck.. so i reduced it to 399.00 per their request.. still never had 1 person. had like 6 thousand supposed views? whatever that means. frustrated!

2 things

AUTHOR: Steve - (USA)

1 - requiring a credit report is a GOOD thing; people wanting to sell their lease need to be sure the deal won't fall apart due to credit issues.

2 - the reasons given (too many accounts, etc) are given by the credit reporting agencies, not the lease website. So your beef is with them.
