I had taken my vehicle in for an AC check. It was not cooling properly. The mechanic at Lefler's said that I needed a new compressor (with kit) and condenser. The estimate was for $1100.
I took my vehicle to the dealership to get a second opinion. The dealership said that the system was overcharged. The dealership drained the system and refilled to the factory specs. The dealership then tested the system for several hours to verify that the problem was resolved. Their total cost $72.
Why was there such a drastic difference in the diagnosis and charge? I feel that Lefler's was trying to take advantage of their customers or that the mechanic lacked the skills to correctly diagnose the problem.
