Legacy International Legacy Inmate Communications Outrageous Charges for 2 min phone call!! Internet, California

A friend of mine called me from the city jail three times, the first time the operator disconnected us before the call was ever connected- charge $1.00. He called a second time, finally getting through which was another $1.00 to connect and $16.04 for a ONE MINUTE phone call! Later that same day he called again to inform me that things we were running slower than usual and it would be awhile longer before I could come and that was another $1.00 connect fee PLUS another $16.04 for a one minute phone call. So grand total $35.08 for all of TWO MINUTES worth of phone calls!!!! Seriously??? How is this legal??? Had they mentioned the charges in advance I would have never accepted the calls!! You should be informed prior to the taking the call of the charges... It doesn't seem ethical to me. I read on their website that they TRIPLED the revenue for one jail..... TRIPLED... just on phone calls! Someone, please, do something!
