Legacy Long Distance - 0+ Dialing - Opticom ripoff Cypress California

I noticed this morning that my Qwest bill was over 100 dollars for one month. I paid by credit card. As an afterthought I called to enquire why it was so high. They informed me that it included long distance charges to 0+ of 86.81 and gave me a number to call, 1-888-511-0734. In a subsequent call to Qwest I was given another number, which I used: 1-800456-7587. Both of these numbers resulted in contact with Legacy Long Distance.

I called and found myself communicating with a representative of Legacy Long Distance. The charge was for a 33 minute phone call from Fruitland, ID on July 29, for which I had accepted the charges. I identified the call as from my son, and I acknowlege accepting the collect call. The call was made at a public phone at 789 E. Park St. in Fruitland.

I called back Qwest, telling them I intended to dispute the charges, which amounted to almost three dollars/minute. Qwest had not yet paid the third party; they agreed to not do so; and to apply my payment to future phone bills, which was agreeable to me.

In the course of researching this, I learned that 0+ Dialing is a corporation somewhere in Texas, that it may be otherwise known as Opticom, and that it seems to, but may not be, separate from Legacy Long Distance.

My recourse, so far, which has helped: asking Qwest to reject these charges, which they did; presumably I will hear from one of the other corporations sooner or later; identifying the different rip-off corporations; learning about the large discounts they provide when challenged.
