I received several calls from a man with an Indian accent claiming that his name was "Justin Smith". "Justin" claimed that I took a payday loan in 2006 and never paid it back and owed $1595.00 He threatened that if I didn't pay it back by 11:00 AM the next day then he would send investigators to my home and work to arrest me and the fee would then go up to over $5000.
I filed a police report the very next morning and they informed me that this was definitely a scam and they had no authority to arrest me and need to stop harassing me.
When I got home from the police station I received another call that my fiance' took and he informed "Justin" that we were aware of their scam and have alerted the authorities.
I've also put a call into the local Consumer Fraud office to alert them of the fraudulent activity.
