I used to work for a company called AGIA based in Santa Barbara. The call center is in Phoenix, AZ. I worked there for 3 years. Before anyone asks... I am using an AKA. I worked in both customer service and the claims department.

When I worked in the claims department, I seriously believed that claims were being held up by the processors to wear people down. First they would ask for a claim form to be mailed. Then if it wasn't signed and DATED.. every i dotted and every t crossed. Back it would go. They needed a Power of Attorney because of the sudden they would loose one. Or two. Or three. If one pathology report (for the Cancer plan) indicated that there was prior surgery--they would want that also. If it was a death claim--we need the funeral card, police report (if there was one), a certified death cert, an obituary and a host of other things. I saw this day in and day out.

There was no real warning given to people when the premiums would go up.. just "It's in your policy."

On a daily basis we received phone calls from insurance commisioners, the BBB, and attorneys. We did have one supervisor who handled these calls. She resigned shortly before I did.

Why am I writing this. To warn people. I worked for this company. Personally would I buy life or health insurance from them.. No. I am now very gun shy of "supplemental insurance" of any kind. I write this as a warning to families and members of organizations. Forewarned is forearmed. I do hope you take this post seriously. It is not meant to be malice or hateful. It's my opinon which I feel that I can express in this country. Please research this company fully so you can make your own decision. Thank you.
