Don't get sucked into scams promoted by LegitimateBusinessReviews.com. Scott (if that is his real name) actually gives you some good advice and tips on avoiding some scams such as paid typing, repate processing, paying for survey lists, etc. He gains your confidence so that he can refer you to his client sites who pay him for getting you to click on their sites and commission if you buy. While some of these are legitimate, others are scams.
I recently got an email from Sott@LegitimateBusinessReviews.com touting an outfit named DoublingStocks. Scott (if that is his real name) is a good copywriter and made the DoublingStocks opportunity seem like an inside scoop. I went to their site and was almost hooking into their scam. These guys claim to have a secret system backed up by a $28,000 computer program for picking stocks that will quickly rise in value. They focus on penny stocks. You can subscibe to their newsletter and get weekly stock tips. For more money, you can (they claim) have Web access to their stock picking software.
Fortunately, I spent some time doing reseach and learned that DoublingStocks is making money for both sides. In many instances, they are paid by the stocks they are reccommding to tout these stocks. This creates a buying surge from their subscribers and temporarily pumps up the price of the stock. This allows those already holding the stock (one has to assume that the guys at DoublingStocks already own these stocks) to "dump" the stock and make a tidy profit. This is known as "pump and dump." The new wrinkle is that you are paying them for the names of the stocks they are pumping. They can't lose, but you can. Scott (if that is his real name) at LegitimateBusinessReviews.com doesn't care. He's already made his money by sending you there. http://www.legitimatebusinessreviews.com http://doublingstocks.com

I have received a penny-stock pump & dump magazine

The first question is: Why would a stranger want a small fee to tell me how to make a fortune when they could simply grab that fortune for themselves?
The P&D Mag I got was pushing a gold mining stock.... gold is 'hot' right now.
It is much better for those of us who get our investment information 3rd hand to buy well-performing no-load mutual funds and then go mow the lawn. Consumer Reports, CR Money Advisor, Smart Money, and so on all analyze & review mutual funds.
