The man answers by the name of William Spencer that he works with Lending Club. The phone number is from New York. They make personal loans. Originally, I received a recorded phone message stating it was calling from Lending Club and to call back the number which I did.

He verified my information several times from an application that he had on file, so I assumed he was legitimate. He then sent me an email with a form to fill out and send back on a Google DOC secured form. The email is from a bryankingirs@gmail.com account.

I thought, why would Lending Club use a personal email instead of a business email. I see this as a red flag. I sent an email back to William Spencer on the above mentioned email asking for an explanation of this situation. He actually called me back three times and has left two messages. I haven't returned them as yet.

He is a very mild smooth talking man and convincing. The background sounds of his location seem like an office. So I can't say that I've been burned on this as yet. I researched the name Lending Club and there are numerous scam reports on Ripoff Report. The most recent is from Oct 2016. There is a legitimate Lending Club in San Francisco with a website and application portal. So this report is a heads up to anyone who may have dealings with this organization. It may be nefarious, it may not. I am deeply suspicious of this encounter. I was forced to close a bank account six months ago over a similar matter. I learned from that experience not to jump in and off a cliff without doing some research first.

So this just seems highly irregular. Caveat Emptor to everyone.
