Lighthouse Newfoundlands is a Greedy Greedy crook!
Years ago I wanted to breed newfoundlands and thought it may be a fun venture, always loved the breed. I called Lisa Martens @ Lighthouse Newfoundlands. She was very nice and seemed to know a lot about the breed, she had been breeding for years and said we could co own 2 of her older dogs that had a stellar pedigree and were wonderful mothers and have had large litters. Lisa also thought it would be best for her to keep the dogs at her kennel for they would be happier there since they loved only her and when they were ready to breed she would let me know, so the agreement was done and I paid her Top dollar for the co ownership I also bought 2 pups from her to grow up myself and when the time came she would choose a male for me to breed them too. I was extremely excited about this new venture and looked forward to having puppies and becoming a breeder
She contacted me and told me the one female was bred.
When the time came the motherl needed a C-section which Lisa demanded I pay for since I owned the dog and I explained I only co-owned half the dog and would only be prepared to pay half the bill, but did end up paying the whole bill for she cried she had no money to pay her half. Shortly after the Newfoundland had pups think it was 4-5 days later Lisa called me to say they all Died. I was very upset and suspicious of this so my Father and I went to her house in Grafton, Ohio to pay her a visit, when we got she was very rattled, seemed very irritated we had just shown up and when we asked to see the girl we co owned she said she was in her kennel but we couldnt see her for she was afraid we would bring Parvo into her kennel, we told her we really wanted to see the dog and asked her if she could bring her out and then Lisa explained that she was very sore from the C-section and that Newfoundlands can get very depressed and she said it wouldnt be a good idea to stress her more, especially when she didnt know us. She kept saying to trust her that the dog I co owned was fine and to trust her that All the Puppies died which was too bad and she would try again to breed her on her next season and she assured us that the next breeding would be great and Lots of pups, she was trying to get us out of her yard as fast as she could.
My Father immediately disliked this Lisa and knew every word that came out of her mouth was lies. We got a attorney and served Lisa the papers, we no longer wanted any part of this woman and her lies, she was very arrogant and told us to talk to her attorney and told us we were the liars and we were the bad people and how dare we not trust her, she sent us several emails threatening us, twisting all the emails around like we were the ones trying to take advantage of her.
We ended up dealing out of court and lisa sent us a check, which basically covered the attorney bill and was glad the nightmare was over.
A few months went by and a breeder called me and told me that Lisa did indeed have pups and was selling them and that she lied because she didnt want to have to give me half of the litter, she wanted to keep them all for herself. I was also too stupid and too rich to care and that I had enough money and a rich father so why would she give me anything when she was the one who needed the money not me.
The 2 pups I did buy from her were never bred, the one turned out to have hip problems and the other one turned out to have reproduction problems so both we fixed.
So much for the fun venture which turned out to be a Nightmare from h**l.
I regret the day I called her, she is a very a greedy crooked dishonest person who should never breed dogs or deal with the public! If your thinking about buying a pup or getting into a co ownership think again.

Please take notice that Lisa A. Martens and Lisa A. Martens dba Lighthouse Newfoundlands commenced an action in the Lorain County,Ohio, Court of Common Pleas, Case No. 12CV177494, due to the deceptive and
defamatory statements made by Donna in Ripoff Report No. 922155 and the deceptive and defamatory statements made by NB in Comments 1 and 3 and Julie in Comment 2 to Ripoff Report No. 922155. In this action, and in compliance with Ariz. R. Civ. P. 45.1, the Clerk of the Maricopa County, Arizona, Superior Court has issued a subpoena to Ripoff Report for the contact information of the persons who posted these statements on Ripoff Report.
The subpoenaed information will be sent to Thomas M. Horwitz, Esq., Thomas M. Horwitz Co., LPA, 1991 Crocker Road, Suite 600, Westlake, Ohio 44145.

Lisa has told the same things to different people over and over again and gets them into her "black widow" web. Just got this email from yet another peron she wronged and lied to:
"I wonder who she will try to hurt next. I am sorry the day I ever met her. We all tried to befriend her and look where it got us. We are all good people trying to help a sick person. Well shame on us, valuable lesson learned--You can't save them all. It is just terrible she is saying those terrible things about everyone. Maybe someday we can all meet and have a cup of coffee and put this behind us.
She must be scared more RipOff reports will come. I think of all the times she told me what a good friend I was to her. I feel so very stupid now, I, like so many others, want no more to do with her. She needs to just go away and let everyone alone. I think she get such a kick out of hurting people. Kind of makes you wonder what kind of childhood she had to be so mean."

Lisa Martens of Lighthouse Newfoundlands has hurt and scammed so many people. Threatened many into silence...blasted people all over this site and others under her name and aliases. Caused mental anquish and monitary damage to so many...I THANK ripoff for finally getting the story out...She lies like Casey Anthony....very believable at first.. the worst kind...but is a dangerous human being..
I had an almost identical experience to Donna where she bought a puppy from me and claimed it died.. I know of someone else, who may be posting soon, who personally told me that she put a deposit on a puppy with Lisa, Lisa claimed it died and refused to return her deposit......there are sooo many stories around the newf community about Lisa Martens,,,,ask around of reputable breeders and see for yourself.. DO NOT purchase a newfoundland from her, is my advice.. LIghthouse newfoundlands oh my god !

It gets worse and worse with Lisa. The stories are getting around and she has had so many bad dealings with people, myself. included. I cannot imagine living with myself and doing such awful things to people. She is a VERY sick woman and think whoever called her the "black widow" was spot on.
People within her proximity beware! She is crazy enough to go off on an ex boyfriend who did everything for her and beat him in the face, knock him to the ground and his glasses off just when he went to pick up things he had left at her house (she then said she reported him for rape, she is crazy!). She used this man for years to clean her kennels and do her dirty work. If she could do this, many of us wonder what really happened when one of her 6-8 ex husbands "fell" off a ladder and had to be in a nursing home for many years after and having serious brain damage (poor guy for being involved with her). He later died from this and she had remarried about 2-3 times since. Wonder if a police report was ever done to investigate his "falling from the roof"....
