It's taken me awhile to finally get around to writing about this company. Like many of the people who have written reviews on this website, I wish I'd checked out this company BEFORE agreeing to work with them.

Last year, like many others out there, I lost my executive level position due to corporate down-sizing. I was out of work for approximately 8 weeks, when I received an email indicating that my resume had been forwarded to Lightship and recommending that I contact them, which I did. I fell for the "sell" that I was given about how they only agree to work with a fraction of the people with whom they speak - and the success rate of seekers in finding appropriate jobs through them.

I was assured that I would be given a comprehensive list of contacts at targeted companies. (Their "reverse search" process sounds plausible in theory, in which the job-seeker proactively reaches out to contacts at companies rather than searching posted positions.) I paid hundreds of dollars for an extensive list of "targeted" companies to contact. Unfortunately, there were problems with most of the contact names that I was given. One, many of the contacts numbers were not direct and led to secretaries and receptionists that automatically forwarded me to voice mails. Two, many of the contacts were outdated or not appropriate. Three, of those with whom I was able to reach, NONE of them were interested in speaking with me. All of them indicated that they hadn't heard of Lightship and several suggested I speak with the HR Depts.

I spent several weeks diligently contacting the names/places that were provided to me, with hopes that my money would turn out to be well-spent. These efforts were fruitless. When I contacted Lightship to complain, they offered to provide me with more companies to contact, but wanted me to pay more money. I couldn't afford it.

Luckily, two weeks later, through Linked-In, I was made aware of a position at a fantastic company. I reached out to them with my resume and the rest is history. I'm gainfully employed again and very pleased. When all was said and done, I handed over $1,500 to Lightship and basically got nothing for it except excuses and ugly attitudes from them. I wish I'd saved that money and continued reaching out to my social network contacts instead.

Terrible experience with Lightship.  They are all talk and no results.
