Lisa M. Garfield and Stephen Garfield (her estranged husband) defrauded my family over $150,000.00 and stole our remaining valuables and possessions. Including memorabilia and photos which can not be replaced. Lisa Garfield poses herself in the Mormon community and her social circles as being a very upstanding and above board individual. She considers herself to be a model follower of the Mormon religion and even thinks she’s following Jesus Christ... (last I checked Jesus didn’t act like this)... Over the past four years Lisa Garfield managed to pilfer $150,000.00 in payments (meant to be paid toward our home purchase) and instead used the funds toward her own travel expenses and impending divorce proceedings. Lisa has multiple reasons for evicting our family from our home, during a very arduous time in our life. She was well aware of our lifestyle and our needs to stay in our home for our children to graduate high school. Even while we faced terminal cancer, we still paid our payments and our lease on time within the month required. Even as we faced our own financial obstacles with our small business she promised us if we paid our minimum payment our home would not be in danger. In May of 2018 Lisa notified us despite our impeccable performance paying our expected monthly payments toward the home purchase that she would be expecting us to pay $75,900 more than the agreed upon purchase price.
As self employed business owners, we knew that our finances would not be able to handle such a large bump in expenditures and I plead with Lisa and Garfield Family Trust, Green Light Investments LLC, to not evict us over our inability to qualify for a larger home loan despite our agreed upon purchase price. Which was invalidated because she fraudulently had us believe the documentation was legally binding for both sides, and we trusted her. However, she took us to court and won. While my husband and I were in Puerto Rico setting up shelters for survivors of Hurricane Maria we were notified our home and our possessions were locked away, to be thrown into the dump. She is only communicating with us through her attorney, who is quite possibly the devils henchman incarnate! We are not pleased with how she’s created her narrative of us, and her own story varies greatly from the actual truth. Lisa believes that she is in the right because she is afterall the legal property owner, and has her "timeline” which waits for no one. I’m writing this to draw awareness to anyone considering a rental, a lease or a lease option purchase under her or her company. I hope to warn anyone who comes into contact with her that she is ruthlesss and won’t stop until she not only takes your families home but your belongings as well... and my little bit of respect for the Mormon community which has been forever tarnished in my mind, my families mind and my circle of colleagues and friends because of her callous regard for our circumstances.
