I'm getting the same treatment as well. I received a letter from them claiming they had been retained to collect a certain amount. I responded via certified letter within the 30 days given and requested that they provide verification of the alleged debt. I still have yet to receive any verification, but I did get a letter from the local Sheriff's office about an "important document" they were holding for me.

Likely a summons where they're going to try to sue me. However, I'm going to fight this tooth and nail, since they have no grounds to file suit without first providing the verification I am legally entitled to. This claim was originally dropped due to errors and carelessness made by Countrywide Home Loans and now I am dealing with these numb nuts!!
