I am moving and was looking for a small loan to get things started easily. I applied to various different companies. I was unapproved by my bank due to just opening the account and am younger so most places stated that I needed longer credit history.

I recieved a phone call from many companies stating I was approved. The first call I got, aka the one I responded to, was an indian man. I was skeptical so I asked them many questions. They told me that their name was Loans of America and told me that the calls made from 800 numbers were usually fraud. They verified all of my personal info: my ssn, bank account number, and address.

They said since my credit score was poor I had to verify that I was able to make first month's payment. It sounded legit to me so I went ahead with it. They told me that I had to purchase a green dot money pak to show the payment and I would be refunded back the money with my loan deposit. After sending them the first card they told me that my loan of $5000 plus the $275 I had verified would be deposited in my account within a half hour.

I called my bank after an hour to verify if there was a pending deposit. They said no. I called "loans of america" back to ask them about the issue. They told me that, "there was a freeze on my account because of my low credit score and I would have to get another green dot money pak and make another payment" they reassured me that I would get that money back as well.

Stupid me went and purchased another green dot money pak and loaded $100 more on to it. I called them back and gave them the new card number. They told me that I would recieve my loan for $5000 plus the $375 that I had put on the green dot cards in about an hour. There offices would be closed but if there was a problem I could call them back on monday.

I became more skeptical after not recieving my money once again. I began to do some online research and found that more people had done this exact same thing. I googled Loans of America and found a legitamate loan company and just acted like a customer. They told me that they had no record of anyone with my name. That is when I knew I had been scammed. I called "James Hamilton" back and left a voicemail basically stating that I knew I have been scammed and the police are already involved. Im hoping that it will get my money back somehow. I called my bank and closed my account and now have to change my ssn.

Now I am in a real tough spot. I have already put in my two weeks at my current job and cannot start my job in my new town until I move there and cannot move there without the loan. This is just great. Scammers like this deserve to be brutally punished. This is complete bull s**t. Anyone who scams should be put to death.
