I also received a letter telling me I won $28,000. (I'm hurt, as everyone else seems to have gotten $38000). I also received the check for $2,800. As I read the letter, several red flags went up. First, the envelope the letter was sent in was a plain white envelope. No letterhead-no athenticity. Second, the letter itself looked homemade. Again, not very professional. You'd think these guys would at least use colored ink to make it look legitimate. Third, I called the phone number and received the same message several times during the supposed hours of operation. I did a reverse phone number look up on the internet and confirmed that it is a wireless number (untraceable). I also received several phone calls from this company. When I did a call back off the caller ID (which appeared as "Marketing" on caller ID) I got a regular voice answer that said I reached "Linda" who is not available.
Fourth, why do I have to deposit the check at the bank? Couldn't I just cash it? I'm embarrassed that I even did this mush leg work, however, if it helps save someone else from being ripped off, it was worth it.
