I, too, received the call from Matt Carter at Longwood, Inc. today after listing my car for sale on Craigslist two days ago.  When I returned his call, "Patti" told me Matt was not available and she didn't have any info on my car.  I said well you should have gotten it from Matt then instead of asking me to confirm what I had.

I should say that before I ever returned their call, I hopped on and did a google search for Longwood because just the message made me suspicious I would see reports on this company from others who had the same fears as I do - scam.

For $249 they will try to match me with a buyer for 90 days.  If I sell my car first, they'll refund the $249.  Or I can go with the ' high demand' plan and pay $149 non refundable fee and they will attempt to find me a buyer forever.

Like everyone else is posting, I have not been scammed yet, but would love to hear from anyone who has successfully paid the fee, gotten a match, sold their car AND received their money without any issues along the way.  My thought is if anyone is willing to do their homework to find a good used car on Craigslist or anywhere else, they may not need a service like this.  They said they 'checked' people out but what does that really entail.  I doubt they run a title search to make sure you have clear title to the car you are listing.  And I doubt they run a credit check on the buyer to make sure they are financially capable of paying for a car.  That's all stuff any logical buyer and seller should be doing on their own anyway.  With opportunities like Craigslist to get the word out you don't need marketing businesses like these people but I guess they must be successful or else we wouldn't be seeing these same posts two years later (I saw some posts from April ,2009!).

After doing my homework here, I then called them and said no, I just listed my car two days ago, I'm willing to wait and see what happens.
