Loopnet Loopnet Austin SLEAZY company Internet

I was looking for an office space and had previously had a "free" membership with Loopnet to help me find one in the Dallas, Texas area.  When you have a "free" membership, Loopnet does not let you see all the listings that apply to your search.  So, I signed up for a "paid" membership on a Friday.  You can either get an annual membership for roughly $60/mo. or a monthly membership for $90/mo.  I couldn't afford the $90 and thought that I would be able to cancel once I found what I needed.  On the Monday following the Friday that I signed up, I realized that I did not need the "paid" membership after all.  I promptly called Loopnet to cancel and was told that a "supervisor" would have to call me back.  I finally got a call from the "supervisor" who identified herself as "Katie" on Wednesday of the same week.  Katie told me that I couldn't cancel the supscription "mid-term" and she had absolutely no discretion.  We debated the meaning of "mid-term" and she said that I waited 5 days, so 'oh well.'  I pointed out that there was a weekend in between and I was not going to contact a business on a weekend and the options to cancel DO say to either email or call. You can't just cancel online.  I'm not sure why she was debating how many days it was since I changed my mind, because she refused to allow me out of the "contract".  I offered to pay Loopnet the difference between the annual and the monthly, but she said no, and "so sorry you're not happy", but that I would simply have to pay the monthly amount for the next 11 months, but that she would "definitely" make sure that my membership would not "auto" renew after the 12 months.  Well, thank God, right?  My point is, if you choose to use Loopnet, please be CAREFUL when signing up with Loopnet and just know that even though it makes no sense to pay $90 for a monthly rate when it is otherwise only $60/mo., you will be LOCKED into the one year "agreement" and Loopnet will not show any mercy.  Whether the customer is happy is irrelevent.  They'll get my money, but will never use this service again and I would highly recommend against anyone else using them as well.
