My husband and I were refered to Ken Nix by our lawyer after our car accident to get an appraisal for the lost value of our vehicle. Ken Nix explained the lost values process to us, and my husband and I paid the $275 fee for our report. We promptly got all the paperwork to him that he requested within weeks of our original conversation with him, and then we waited for him to respond.

After a few weeks passed, we called to verify that he got all of our emails with all the paperwork that he needed, and nobody returned any of our calls. After numerous calls and emails to this guy that were being completely ignored by him, we finally asked for our money back approximately 2 months after our first communication, and he finally got back to us. He said that there were some delays with our insurance company, and some of the information that he requested hadn't gotten to him, etc, etc, excuses, excuses. We asked if there was anything we could do to expedite the process, and he told us to request certain information for him about our case. We did this as promptly as possible, and finally he had everything that he needed to process our case.

We then waited, called, emailed him numerous times again with absolutely no response from him whatsoever. I was assuming that he was waiting for us to just give up on ever recieving our report from him. About 6 months later and after completely giving up on him, we asked him for our money back again in an email since he obviously couldn't handle our case. Finally he called us back after all these attempts that we had previously made, and he told me that he was certain that he had already sent out our report. I checked our email, and he had not, in fact, sent us any responses to any emails that didn't say I want my money back on them.

At this point, Ken Nix explained to us that our file had somehow gotten tangled up with some other person's file with a similar name, and this is the reason that our report had not been sent out. He said that he was also waiting on some information that we had already emailed him, so I forwarded the information to him that he requested again promptly. Then I waited. He said that my report would be ready in the next week or so.

After a month, several more phone calls and several more emails, I finally left him a message on his phone saying that I was just going to report him to the Better Business Bureau if he didn't return my money, and he finally responded to me to say that he would have my report to me by the end of the week.

When the end of the week came and passed, we contacted him again numerous times via phone and email with no response. After leaving another message with him that we wanted our money back, he finally produced a report for us. This was a year after our car accident.

We did everything that his little packet said to do, and it told us to contact him at certain points in order to recieve further advice. When we reached those steps in the packet, he would not respond to us at all. Then after waiting for 3 months and asking for our money back, he finally responded with "I can't legally advice you on this", even though we were just following the instructions in the packet.

When we sent his valuation report to our insurance company, they informed us that they did not accept outside appraisals for lost value. Our car had to be appraised by one of the insurance company's adjustors for a lost values claim, which is exactly what Ken Nix's website claims the opposite of. After a year of waiting on him to get us this report, it turns out that it was completely useless to the insurance company.

We left this in a voicemail for him with another request to get our money back, and he called us back saying that he was going to send us a letter of complaint to some bureau of insurance companies or something like that, and then he ignored us again for 2 or 3 months until I wrote him an email letting him know that we are done with all of this. He informed us that he didn't have to give us our money back until we take the insurance company to small claims court, which I am not willing to do 2 years post car accident.

As I was writing my complaint about this guy to the Better Business Bureau, I noticed that 6 other people have very similar complaints that I had about him in 2015. The word needs to get out there that this guy is taking people's money and creating false reports in the hopes that people are just going to forget that they gave him money in the first place. We need to be the last people that get screwed over by this guy.

Ken Nix has agreed to give us our money back like we have requested. He claims that his reports have been useful for several insurance companies, and there are just a few companies that are unwilling to work with his reports since recent regulations have been adopted. I appreciate him making the effort to work with us throughout the past 2 years, and I am ready to put this situation in the past.
