What do you mean when you say the debt was "written off" by the credit card company? Does that mean the credit card company figured this was not worth their time and sold the debt for pennies on the dollar, figuring a little was better than nothing, or did the credit card company tell you the debt was being voided? Do you have anything written from the credit card company regarding this?
Were you served with papers for a court action? There can be no finding by a court unless there was action against you in court, which means you had to be served. Did this happen?
I suppose procedures can vary from state to state, but from my experience if there was a default judgment, it is the court, not the plaintiff that sends you notification.
It is helpful when writing about money to use a dollar sign, "$". It makes reading easier, and not using it brings a question to mind, if the writer is careless on simply witting, are they careless in bigger issues of money.
