My situation is a first time service placed in my car ever. Ive had the device 2 months. I would never think such a well know servicer would have so much falsivity behind the curtains. Ive had 2 devices from low cost installed in my car for malfunctions and i am still having miss reading, recalls, fail lockouts, in which result in me having to pay 25 dollars to the service center in a week more then once. The staff overall does not use proffesionalism as a factor to resolve customer issues. I am literally taking pictures of my readings to show proof the machine is reading 0.00. My time is drained and i am in distress. They will never take initiative for sending a brand new handset. They do not follow up with notes as a customer correctly explains, and they will not help the customer resolute the issue at all. I have no words but that id never recomend the company. My life feels like im a prisoner and im seeking this does not happen to others.

Beginners bad luck

AUTHOR: 86oh - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 12, 2017

Ignition interlock devices are becoming more commonplace as time goes on. I'm a professional master mechanic with 30-plus years experience and wish to share some of my findings on this topic.

Breath alcohol devices can behave badly for a wide variety of documented reasons. The alcohol we drink is ethanol. Other sugar alcohols can cause bad reading on your device, some of which are: sorbitol, maltitol, xylitol, and potentailly other substances such as isopropanol and methanol.

These other subtances ( you may have noticed they end in "ol" ) can be found in food products, candy, gum, enerygy drinks, cleansing wipes, car air fresheners and even winshield washer solvent.

To operate a deep breath alcohol detection device properly you must embrace the lifestyle change necessary to work the program with a positive outcome for you.

Some tips: Dont eat before using the device, wait 15 minutes. Drink water prior to blowing. Don't smoke while using the breathalyzer. Remove car air fresheners. Never use hand sanitizer or wipes in the car. Roll down your window when you need a rolling retest.

Ironic

It is ironic how you talk about feeling like a prisoner. As the reason you have a requirement to have this device on your car in the first place is because you were CONVICTED at least once of Drunk Driving. Where the penalty for such a crime often includes jail time. Now, if you actually took a plea deal you can play "word games" and say you were never "convicted". But that is all it is "word games".

If you don't want this to happen to others why aren't you out there making sure people don't drink and drive in the first place?

Don't say that you are, because not once in your post was anything about how you got yourself into this situation. There was nothing that you "paid your dues" and are trying to make it right. NO..it is all about how this company is making your life difficult. So save the 1001 EXCUSES as to how YOU got YOURSELF into this situation for the rest of your AA friends.  But then again if they are so bad, why haven't you gone to another company?
