We saw an ad on Pinterest for purses from Lucas & Grace, New York.  We went to their website, https://lucas-grace.com.  The homepage shows a gray-haired couple in their sixties or so and says they are having a closure sale, "FINAL CLOSURE SALE UNTIL 11:59 PM." It says:

"Why the CLOSURE SALE? After 26 years, we're retiring! To celebrate, we're offering up to 70% off all products. Take advantage of the sale today, as these items will never be back in stock!  Thank you for all your loyal support over the years!    Xx, Edward Lucas & Diane Grace"

The homepage also prominently displayed:

"TRUST OUR 25+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE    Since 1997, your trusted partner in the fashion industry. Discover the difference in passion and reliability"  and

"30-DAY MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE    After receiving your order, you have 30 days to decide whether to keep the product or return it effortlessly for a full refund. "

On April 19th, we ordered two purses.   We used our Visa card to pay . When I went to our bank website and clicked on details of the transactions, it said the payment was to: SP LUCAS AND GRACE HENGELO NL.  Hengelo is a city in the Netherlands.

The purses arrived yesterday, delivered by a delivery company we had never heard of, "GOFO Express".  My wife is not satisfied with the purses.  When we went online to try and "effortlessly" return the purses, we learned it is not effortless and very difficult.   According to the website:

To initiate your return, please follow these steps: 1. Request a return form from our customer service by emailing support@lucas-grace.com Clearly provide your order number* and the reason for the return.   2. Please ensure your return has been pre-approved by our customer service team. Shipments without prior approval will not be accepted. 3. You are responsible for the return shipping costs. For your own security, we recommend using a shipping method with Track & Trace.  4. A Track & Trace code is required for all returns. Without this code, we cannot monitor the shipment, and your right to a refund will be lost. 5. Returns should be sent to our central warehouse in China, with costs starting at €20. 6. Once your return has been received and inspected at our warehouse, you will receive an email regarding the approval or rejection of your refund. If approved, the refund will be processed within 30 days and credited to your original payment method. If you have not received a refund after 30 days, we recommend checking your bank account again. Please contact us if you still have not received your refund.

* They require an order number to make a return. However, I have been back through all our email folders (including deleted) and cannot find that we ever received an order number.

We believe the " Lucas and Grace New York "website is at best, deceptive and Pinterest should be ashamed to promote this site.  You are led to believe these are two Americans, retiring and closing down their retail business after 26 years.  After some research, I have learned that the lucas-grace.com website domain was just created at 2:44 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2025.    You are pressured to buy right away because the closure sale ends at 11:59, which is not true.  Despite a claim of "effortless" returns, it appears to be costly and extremely difficult, if not impossible, to make a return to their warehouse in China.  They hide the fact that this is a foreign company until you try to make a return.   I suspect that this is a Chinese company operating out of the Netherlands to appear less Chinese.
