I was a recent victim of LUNA Carpet in Chicago. The salesman came to my residence on August 02, 2011 to measure ONLY 3 areas of the house I have with carpet. The other areas are all hardwood flooring. I specifically walked him thru the entire project explaining it was a rental and the carpet was disgusting. All 3 sets of stairs were to be replaced. His 1st quote was $1,386 for 3 sets of stairs with a basic Shaw carpet and install. I told him I did not want to spend that much as every 3 years I would replace instead of continued cleaning. He said he had a similar carpet in a discontinued Shaw carpet line looks the same etc and he could do for $841.
I reviewed the quote and signed his electronic invoice and paid cash on the spot in full. The quote said "Stairs1" and "Landing" which was the stairs and the top floor small hallway - everything I wanted to replace. Sounded great and a fair deal. He got rid of carpet he didnt want and I got a fair deal. It was a little more than Home Depot but I thought hey this was decent service and they could do it quickly. Everything went well until the day of install. I met the installers, walked them thru the project and left for work.
When I got back my maid had signed for the install and I was missing the new carpet on 1 complete set of stairs and the upper landing. I asked her what happened and she explained that they said they did not have enough of that carpet to complete the job. I thought okay it was late on Friday I will call the salesman and he will handle on Monday. The salesman responded and stopped by the house on Sunday without telling me he was coming. Once again my maid was there and let him in. She explained and he said okay, okay I will talk to Shawn and get it all taken care of. Monday came around and I finally talked to him. He went into a whole story of "this seems to be a misunderstanding" and we never measured all areas.
I could not believe what I was hearing. I said Richard Cohen of Luna Carpet asre you joking? Why would your quote say "landing" and only 1 time mention stairs if stairs was per set and you completed 2 sets of the 3??? He then told me I could pay $444 more to complete the job. I called everyone at Luna and nobody had the courtesy to call back. I informed Richard you must be joking? You will screw over a customer for what? $100 in your cost of material and labor which you should've instaleld in the first place and now because I paid cash all I can do is take you to small claims court. I told him I will make sure I tell my story to any and everyone as they are SCUMBAGS! I will post this everywhere.
