LV8 Poundsaver LV8 Classic Living Unauthorized charges to account GBP 90 Dublin, Internet

We ordered a steam mop from Thane Direct after watching a TV advert.  At the time of ordering, we were offered a no obligation hotel/travel discount card which we declined.  Received the mop which was fine, but soon after had GBP 1.60 debited from our bank account twice in April which we did not notice.  Then very recently another charge for GBP 89.95...  The descriptions were LV8 Poundsaver and LV8 Classic Living.

After scouring the internet we've discovered these unauthorised charges were in relation to this Poundsaver discount card.  Found a couple of 0800 numbers (freephone from the UK) but only managed to get through using 0800 0962925.  The agent confirmed the company name as Poundsaver and I explained the issue, that we declined the offer and had received no information.  I requested a complete refund and initially the agent offered to refund the 89.95, but not the postage and packaging (which i assume was the 1.60).  I firmly pointed out we declined the card and never received any information and wanted all charges returned and conifirmation no further charges will be made.  The agent agreed to make a complete refund which will take 10 working days.  He provided a refund confirmation number.  Having called only today, I await the refund, but reading other's experiences they have confirmed they received so I am optomistic about the outcome.

I will be filing a complaint with Watchdog and Trading Standards as this sort of practice is highly unscrupulous and unethical.  Having read other's experiences with this company, it seems this a common practice and I cannot understand how such a business is allowed to continue.

If you have also been hit by these people, my advice is to call 0800 0962925, remain calm and be firm in your request for a refund.  Make sure you get a confirmation number.  Complain to Trading Standards about Poundsaver/Classic Living AND about the related company (in my case Thane Direct).  We will never order from a TV advert again!
