I have now read several reports from many people all over California who have experienced the same scam I did. The Italian con man confronts you, tells you how he's in the fashion business, gives you an incredibly detailed story, and eventually, asks you for money.
His story is usually that his wallet was stolen by a woman and he needs the money to fly home to Italy that day. He offers to sell you his fake Armani jackets, so he can get home, which he'd rather do anyways to avoid "import taxes". This guy is a young, heavy-set, well-dressed, Italian and portrays himself as a devoted Catholic. He has a phony business card and might offer to Western Union you back the money.
I live in Las Vegas, so apparently the scam has moved west. I would just like this man to get caught. He targets bank & shopping center parking lots and tries to appeal to the generous nature of strangers. It's disgusting and this group seems to have gotten quite a few people.
