I am one of the many victims fallen to the fraudulent rebate promises of Mach Speed Technologies Inc.

I purchased a motherboard K8M8MS (M450-2018) made by Mach Speed from TigerDirect.com on Oct. 8, 2005. I submitted the completed rebate forms (standard + bonus) together with the UPC barcode, invoice and packaging slip promptly to Mach Speed Rebate Center.

On Jan 18, 2006, I received an e-mail informing me that my rebate application has been denied due to BC = Missing Correct UPC Part number barcode, NI = Missing Invoice, SN = Missing Correct/Valid Serial number on the rebate form. This is to my greatest surprise, as I still keep all the copies of my documents, and all the mentioned items are clearly in order.

After sending a series of inquiries to Mach Speed's HelpDesk, the reasons of declination dwindled down to 2, then 1, and now, back to 3 again. I found Mach Speed's reasons of refusal baseless, and I have informed them REPEATEDLY that I have no problem in re-sending them the copies of my document if they have lost it. To my disappointment, Mach Speed gives no response to my offer, clearly showing that they are not interested in correcting their mistake.

The serial number recorded on my HelpDesk Communication with Mach Speed Rebate Center is identical with that on the copy of rebate application form in my hand. This indubitably proves that Mach Speed has lied bluntly in telling me that the serial number I provided was incorrect!

The other most ridiculous reason is that I was missing the Made In China Barcode that has the serial number on it. A barcode which is absolutely non-existent in the package I received.

While filling out the rebate application form, I found the instruction in the rebate form unclear and confusing regarding Both Original UPC Part Number barcode and Serial Number barcode from product packaging. This is because other than the UPC Part Number barcode (which is the ONLY barcode available on the packaging box), there is ABSOLUTELY NO Serial number barcode on the packaging box. Since there is no telephone contact number for the rebate center, I called the Mach Speed technical support and asked EXPLICITLY about this UPC part number and serial number barcode, to which I was told that I need to WRITE DOWN the serial number from the parallel port in the rebate form, and attach the UPC part number barcode from the packaging box to the rebate form. I followed exactly the advice sent in my rebate application. (This instruction was re-confirmed correct when I called up Mach Speed Technical Support again yesterday.)

It has been more than a month since I try to straighten things out with Mach Speed, but the communication is coming to a dead end, as Mach Speed is deliberately avoiding rebate payment by keeping silence.

Mach Speed has caused me tremendous mental stress and time loss. I will not hesitate to disclose Mach Speed's fraudulent practices in media, file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), and eventually head for a civil suit.

All those being ripped-off by Mach Speed please respond to this post. I also hold TigerDirect responsible for advertising Mach Speed's deceitful rebate promises.

Incomplete packaging - missing barcode sticker!

AUTHOR: Ee ding - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 24, 2006

After a lengthy search at TigerDirect Website, I found out what could possibly have gone wrong - the product packaging I received was missing the barcode sticker. This UPC part number/serial number barcode is supposed to be pasted over the printed UPC part number barcode, but the packaging I received did not bear such sticker. I hope MachSpeed and TigerDirect care about their customers, and would correct their mistake by paying me my rebate. I would advice all buyers with doubt over rebate instruction to return the product to save their mental trauma and time, eventhough any company employee may give assuring instructions over the telephone. (I shall upload the images to prove my case once the server allows).
