It all started with an innocent message:

I added this hot19blue to my yahoo messenger and to my surprise she was available! For a while she seemed legit. She would talk about how she used to chat with me before and that she was moving to my area. I kept asking where, but she didn't deviate from the script. The chat continued, she didn't really respond to my questions but once in a while she would ask me questions. Like: Are you still even single? or Would you help me get a better job? Sometimes she would even react to my answers, like a real person. For a while it seemed like I was talking to someone I used to chat with, but then came the hook.

After a while, hot19blue said she had to go back to work. Her job, well... she's a webcam model. The script becomes a bit sketchy after that revelation. She wants to get out of the wonderful biz of adult webcam models but she needs my help. However, right at that moment she had to get out of yahoo and work; she wanted us to continue our conversation on her private site or I guess watch her work for a bit and then talk. She gives me a link and begs me not to share it, according to her she can only give a few free passes out. I follow the link and dozens of pictures show a good looking busty blond in poses designed to stimulate the male libido or second dumber brain.

Several things made me not trust this person. First her hometown was on large red font, and I can bet good money when you visit the site what you'll see is your hometown or your IPs geolocation. Second, I needed a credit card to enter my free, friends-only, backdoor, VIP access webcam link/site she so desperately didn't want me to share. I was suspicious so I asked her about the whole credit card thing. She actually responded, and said it was the law. Not a cent was gonna be charged to my credit card it was only used to verify age. However, I wasn't convinced. So I did a bit of research and here's one of the posts I found:

I had not chatted to this girl as she suggested, but thinking this might provide an agreeable diversion, I followed the link and found it led to a live webcam website featuring possibly hundreds of girls from around the world. It was free to join.

Credit card details were required to prove age of 18 or more. "You will not be charged at this time." Inside I found that "Madison" was a fair-skinned blonde girl and in order to chat to any of the girls an unamed amount of money was obviously required. I quickly cancelled my membership and was notified by email that my account was cancelled and if I wished to rejoin at any time, I must use a different email address.

And if anyone thinks I am dumb, with any iffy site I use a card that has minimal balance. Actually it is standard practise at adult sites to ask for credit card details to ensure the person is aged 18 or more, not that I have ever bothered to enter such a site.

Within 24 hours "Madison" was deleted from badoo.com so that I was unable to link to her photo for the purpose of this post.

So the girl "Madison" was presumably paid to entice people into the website.



Sounds familiar? Yep. So I confronted my presumed old internet friend and guess what I got after one confrontational message? This personalized reply:

So I blocked the user and decided to share it with the world. If it is a phishing scam I wanna help nip that in the butt before it gets a bunch of suckers that fall for a hot body on a webcam. If it's legit, then what kind of weird sneaky marketing campaign is that? I'd say, avoid Madison just to be safe. There's plenty of safe adult sites out there that don't have to use this sketchy plot to get your hard earned money or your spank stress away fund.
