I noticed two "Magazine Order" transactions on my Amex card on my April and May 2003 statements. I tried to call the numbers listed on the statements and got the same electronic voice of the "Magazine Service Center". The voice service asked for the Reference code listed on the transaction; I entered the transaction number but was told there was no such number. I have also called American Express who is disputing the charges for me.

My question is, how did these people get my credit card number? I read in someone else's letter that buy.com was mentioned. Is there a connection? I did purchase online with buy.com about 1 year ago.
