I ordered several magazines, I believe through a school fundraiser months ago. I had no intention of renewing any of the subscriptions ( 4 all together) once they've ran their course. Yesterday, I'm going through my bank accounts online and I noticed two charges I wasn't familiar with or had a receipt for. I called the number and it turns out to be the Magazine Service Center. I had to go through their automated system to cancel the magazine and refund my money.

The automated system finally processed my request after offering several more offers that eventually I would have to cancel as well or suffer another charge. After responding no to all the offers the automated system finally confirmed my cancellation. The next day I was reviewing my account again and the other two charges went through this time causing an overdraft because I wasn't anticipating the extra charges.

The total amount that was deducted for the magazine renewals was $157.00 plus a $29.00 overdraft fee from my bank. I searched the web and found several complaints similar to what I was experiencing. There was no notice the company was debiting my account or notice the magazine was up for renewal. I called back again....to be honest with you I pressed so many buttons I'm not sure how I actually got to a live person.....but after waiting on hold for several minutes I finally was able to speak with someone directly.

I explained the situation and she confirmed my cancellation of all the magazines. I asked her if there was a way to forgo the automated system to get to a live person and she said when you call you need to press *00. Yes, people.....*00 will get you to a live person.

I also asked her how to get a refund of the overdraft fee and she said I needed to send a copy of my statement with the charges and overdraft fee to 954-582-1183 then she also gave me a number to follow-up and check to make sure they received the fax 1-800-321-6247. I hope this information is helpful to anyone who needs it. This will be the last time I ever order magazines through a fundraiser!
