If you have answered your door to a young man or woman selling magazine subscriptions to earn "points" for college, BEWARE. You may actually receive your magazine if you stay on top of it, but more than likely, you will be left without a magazine and with less money in the bank.

I am one of those soft hearted people that likes to help others when I can. I bought into this scam, not once, not twice, but three times. Call me stupid, but I try to believe in mankind. It was not until this last time that I started looking closer at the organizations selling the magazines, and what I found was disturbing. Fortunately for my last purchase, I will actually receive the magazine. I purchased the last magazine 3-12-05. I waited the 120 days (7-12-05) their contract gives them to deliver the magazine. When I called, they told me they would check to see why I had not received my magazine and call me back. After not hearing back from them, I called back the next day (7-13-05) to get the same run around, so I called back the next day (7-14-05) and was informed that my order had been placed and due to the magazine delivery dates, I should be receiving my magazine in August.

I called the magazine publisher today (08-04-05) to see if I would actually be receiving their magazine and I was informed that they had received my order on 07-18-05. I think I am one of the lucky ones. After doing several searches on the net, I see that many people receive nothing. I also learned that I would have paid 1/3 of the price if I had subscribed directly through the publisher. I could have gotten a 2 year subcription for $18.00, but I paid $62.00 for a 3 year subscription. Lesson Learned!
