Beware! A friend went to Magnum Collision after he was involved in a minor accident. The wreck was not his fault and the other driver’s insurance issued a check for just under $3000. The shop removed a few parts and called my friend and told him the car had some previous damage. They told him that they would need to fix the previous damage before they could repair the damage from the accident. He ask how much it would be to fix the previous damage and they quoted almost $10,000!! My friend told them that he did not have that kind of money. He asked them to please just fix the damage from the current accident and they refused. My friend asked his lien holder to contact the shop but they told them the same thing. My friend then called the dealership where he bought the car and ask them to help. The dealership called the shop and told the manager that my friend could not afford to go without his car. They asked if they could pick up the car and do the repair at their own body shop. The manager told them that they could pick up the car but they would have to be paid for checking out the car. They said my friend owed for admin costs $250, $275 for removing the fender and bumper, $185 inspection fee, money for parts ordered, and $40 per day storage!! They would not budge on anything!! They even said they couldn’t return the parts which is an obvious lie. My friend had the car picked up and took it to the dealership where he bought the car. Since the dealership new the situation they agreed to repair the vehicle. The repair was done in two days and they only charged $500. Magnum told my friend that the total due with storage was over $3000!! They kept the entire insurance check and did nothing other than remove a fender and bumper! This is the most blatant rip off I have ever heard of! If it were not for the kindness of the dealership where the car was bought, my friend would have lost his car! This story is not exaggerated in any way. It is beyond comprehension that Magnum Collision would treat someone that way. They new his situation and they still completely screwed him. They kept the entire insurance check and did ZERO repairs!!! The bottom line is that it is very clear that Magnum Collision will do anything to make sure they get $ regardless of the impact on their customers. There are body shops all over town so please choose another one if you need a repair. My friend plans on suing Magnum.
