Oh, I will first say that I had done a couple of subscriptions before with this INTERNET COMPANY over the last two or three years and all was ok then.

However, on February 19th, 2007, I decided to order a 2yr subscription of NATIONAL ENQUIRER PUBLICATIONS for my father who was 88yr old and likes that mag. This complaint is only against MAGS4CHEAP.COM and to inform YOUR READERS about Federal Law requiring AN INDIVUAL MUST DISPUTE A CREDIT CARD CHARGE WITHIN 60 DAYS OF WHEN CHARGE IS POSTED OR AFTER MAILING OF CREDIT STATEMENT. This unknown fact was stated to me from Washington Mutual Bank Credit Card Services on their letterhead 65 days after I submitted their charge dispute form on August 21st for the non receipt of goods(national enquirer) to my dad's adress for the $89.95 charge posted to my Washington Mutual Platinum Visa Card on February 19th, 2007.

It took 6 months to realize I got burnt on this transaction because Mags4Cheap will inform you not to contact them you have not received first mailed product in 10-12 weeks. In or around late April I contacted a NICOLE from MAGS4CHEAP.COM and was told the publisher may not have received the order so she offered a free 1yr subscription from a list of so so magazines for my trouble with order and if I agreed, she would submit my order again to National Enquirer. Again, I've done a couple of mags with them and received most of them. I agreed to her proposal because I thought it was just a snafu or bad luck. I received an email on May 31st, 2007 informing of new order number and to wait another 10-12 weeks before contacting them again.

Around Mid-August, I began calling the toll free number and NICOLE PUT ME ON HOLD TO LOOK UP ACCOUNT--WHILE ON HOLD THE PHONE WENT OFF.

The next 20 to 30 calls over following week were EITHER NOT ANSWERED OR WERE ANSWERED AND CLICKED OFFED WITHOUT EVEN A HELLO FROM MAGS4CHEAP.COM... This is when I knew. Called Washinton Mutual Credit Card Services and they suggested submitting a Charge Dispute Form and I did that around August 21st, 2007. Just got my answer letter back from WAMU on October 29th, 2007 stating that they could not resolve my charge because Federal Law says their is a 60 day limit to dispute such after posting or first statement said charge may be on. I gave WAMU beautiful copies of email and communications with MAGS4CHEAP.COM and still nothing. SO MY ADVICE TO ALL READING THIS TO NEVER EVER WAIT 6O DAYS TO DISPUTE A CREDIT CARD CHARGE. BANKS FEEL THEY ARE OFF THE HOOK. I SUPPOSE INTERNET BUSINESSES KNOW THIS LAW AS WELL.

I immediately cancelled my TWO WAMU CARDS for my dissatifaction and pleasure of knowing my 10k or more Credit Card fees per year are now with their competitor bank.

Life is full of unexpected losses and gains. I not stressing the $89.95 lost but I DO HOPE SOMEONE GAINS FROM THIS EXPERIENCE. I will try and file a complaint with US Govt. Agency overlooking internet--Maybe FTC?? Not sure who to file with yet. Thanks to RIPOFF REPORT for letting me vent.

Jerryb,

I am an employee at a call center that is contracted to do customer service for Mags4Cheap.

I would like to start off by saying that you can dispute a charge that's over sixty days old. Washington Mutual's customer service may not be very nice about it, but I guarantee you there is a person there who can help you. Personally I have used Washington Mutual for years, even before I worked here, and when I've had problems with anyone, especially an internet company, just like you're having, they've helped me dispute charges that are as old as nine months. I'm not talking about huge charges either, I'm talking about smaller purchases like yours.

Secondly, I will be more than willing to help you with your situation. I understand you've had problems with our company and at this point (if you haven't already gotten a refund or your charge credited back by the bank itself) you probably just want the money back. I can either get the money back to you or get the magazine to you, and I can do it quickly. I know you might think "oh I've heard that from someone there before" or something because as a customer service rep taking hundreds of calls a day there are always some customers who are unhappy about the result of their order - so I hear that, and I know exactly what you mean. Most people you talk to on the phone for this kind of thing don't make the connection that when they step out of their job they become the consumer again. They aren't thinking about "what if I was on the other end of this call?" So I completely understand and I would like to help.
