Mail Handlers Benefit Plan Mail Handlers RX Bills Noncustomers For Shoddy Bookkeeping and Internal Errors London Kentucky

I received a letter from a collection agency claiming that a former insurance company, Mail Handlers Benefits Plan, had paid a drug benefit on the behalf of a minor child of mine several months ago.  I had cancelled this policy long before this supposed "overpayment" occurred.  I was never contacted regarding this insurance error prior to a collections letter.

There was no explanation of why this benefit was paid when I was no longer their customer or what it was paid on.  However, they did provide the date it was paid so I can easily prove I had no business relationship or contract with them at the time of this said "overpayment".

Since when are people responsible for errors or shoddy bookkeeping of companies?  I cut up my cards when I cancelled the policy and am in no way responsible for what was done by them after the time I cancelled my contract with them.  I think they somehow made an internal error and are now trying to strong arm me, and possible other former customers, in order to balance their own books!
