Ladies and Gentlemen reading this, Please be warned and proceed with caution when dealing with a Terrance/Terrence Grandberry and Nicole Williams, both of Grand Entertainment World, Masion de Grand, Maison de Grand Models Inc, and Lovely Gems Models. These 2 individuals are not professionals and the companies they represent are not valid or real.
They will either scout you personally or online. I've been told by another scammed model that she was approached via online thru a website call blackcuties.com. They may 'recruit' or 'scout' via myspace, model mayhem and any other 'modeling' sites as well.
I, however, was approached in person by Ms. Nicole Williams. She introduces her self and provided me with a paper, black&white business card asking me if I was interested in modeling. After I told her yes she took my contact information in a spiral notebook. I was contacted by her 3 weeks later. Upon returning her phone call that went unanswered, Mr. Grandberry contacted me. They were in my city and we agreed to meet at a local library due to the fact that that's where they were conducting 'business.'
I met with Mr. Terrance Grandberry for 30 mins, as he discussed the company accompanying a detailed notebook with information about the company in it. we discussed the exclusive contract for 2 yrs, along with perks of the company: FREE WEBSITE, MEMBERSHIP PAID WITH 50% PROFITS, CALENDER, MERCHANDISING, MEDICAL/DENTAL BENEFITS, PAID EVENTS, and FREE TRAVEL TO BOOKINGS AND SHOOTS.
Upon reading the contract I agreed to join the agency he asked for my $100 deposit for the supposed 'background check' and that it was reimbursed. At this time there was also a Launch conference/party in Omaha, Nebraska for the release of an ELLE.Com ad celebrating the joining of Maison de Grand and elle.com. I was told that I HAD to attend this conference and had to pay the $50 deposit for that, and as well as the $100, I would be reimbursed for it all in Nebraska. As well as work and get paid $300-$500 for working the event/party.
I gave him the money and was on a caravan; along side 15 other models to Omaha.
Upon arriving in Omaha, we all learned:
1) there were no events
2) no elle.com staff was there for the supposed conference
3) there were 6 people to a 2 bedroom hotel room
4) we would not be reimbursed the $150 we paid
5) Mr. Grandberry had a warrant issued in the state of Omaha
Along with that we were kicked out of the hotel, went to the mall to discuss our place with the company, not fed by them, but fed ourselves and after being at the mall from 1-6pm discovered that there was no where for us to lay our head that evening.
We had to come up with our own hotel and pay for the way back home on the caravan providing gas.
The only contact I have had with them is via email stating that events in life happen to test your character and that some not all of the models that came to Omaha will get reimbursed and a release waiver had to be signed if you were requesting your money back.
You will have a few people in on the scam report that the company and Grandberry and Williams are legit and reputable, but they are not.
I was approached by Williams but dealt with Grandberry when it came to discussing the company and giving of money.
They are pulling all stops to seem real:
1) Conference calls
2) emails
3) Paper generated information ex; contracts, information about the company
He will even go as far as offering plastic surgery, job placements, and income advancements.
PLEASE DO NOT BE A VICTIM!!! DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE NOT AFTER!!!!
I hope that you're reading this before and not after being mislead by these people. They attack young people b/c they're easier to mislead.
They will say don't believe what you read and hear. Mr. Grandberry has even come up with an acronym to accompany his scam. He says don't be a victim of F.E.A.R. False Evidence Appearing Real!! He is a very slick deceiving man. Please be careful and seek legal attention if you were scammed b/ we all are!!
