This Maitland’s 24Hrs Towing & Repair Company is designed to rip-off customers in any case of emergency along the highway 85 corridor between exits 20 to 60 in highway 85 Virginia section

Towing charges are double, they insist to bring parts so they can charge you extra for delivery!!!,

Here is my SAD story, I was taking my family to catch an international flight at Dulles airport in Washington DC, I had a regular  belt cut off due to a bad pulley at highway  85 in Virginia around exit 22, I stopped at gas station and asked for a mechanic shop or garage they gave me Maitland’s towing and repair card ( now I think it is a joint scam they get a cut or pay back for passing these cards) the Maitland’s  owner charged me $95 just to show up there , and $200 to two my van a 20 miles, $75 just to go and get the part, another $75 to take me to rent a car (that was OK and nice because he was not a taxi, I agree) then when they install the belt, but a pulley turn out to be broken, then he charged me again to go and get the part$75 even though at that point I was sitting at his shop with a rented car) I could of went and brought the part for $5 at the most , instead of waiting 4 hours for him to go and pick up the part, so he can charge me another $75!!!!

Anyway labor charges was another $170 to install a belt and a pulley, bottom line I spent (please do not laugh at me) $1,008, yes, yes, $1,008 to install a fan belt and a pulley on 2006 ford E-350 van !!!!!!!! you know I had to work (126) hours to just “gross” that amount!!!!!!

If you breakdown on highway 85 in Virginia around exits 60-20, please call a private airplane or a limo form “Alaska” to come and pick you up, it will be a lot cheaper,  instead of been a victim like me to this rip-off company.

Please do not be stupid like me, learn this lesson very good, simply call a taxi, go and rent a car do what you need to do and then come back and shop around for a reputable (honest) and reasonable mechanic, please do not fall a victim to these highway sharks, they will rip you off and laugh at you very hard!!

I should been paid for parts about ($90), labor ($75),and  towing ($95), totaling ($260), I was ripped-off additional ($748) !!!! I will try to see a local lawyer to handle this rip-off case for me.

Extremely Satisfied Customer - Highly Recommend Maitland's 24hr Towing Service

AUTHOR: Extremely Satisfied Customer - ()

POSTED: Monday, July 29, 2013

I am writing this rebuttal in response to the dissatisfied customer's Ripoff Report.

My family (wife/3kids/dog) and I just moved from Alaska down to the lower 48, and during that move had vehicle trouble outside of McKenney, VA.  I was driving a Ford F250 and towing a 35 foot travel trailer.  I phoned Maitland's 24hr Towing for assistance and within an hour they arrived at the gas station where my truck had stopped running.  The two gentlemen were extremely courteous and attempted to diagnose the problem on the spot as opposed to recommending an immediate tow back to their location.  After a few minutes it was determined that the vehicle and trailer would need to be towed.

They towed my trailer and truck back to their shop and then did what most businesses would not do.  They allowed me to hook up my trailer to their power/water until my truck was fixed at the nearest Ford dealership due to warranty issues.  Maitland's Towing went above and beyond and demonstrated their true character.  The price was more than reasonable.  My honest assessment is that the owner and all of the workers at Maitland's have customer satisfaction as their priority and find it very difficult to believe they intentionally tried to rip someone off.  Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Maitland's Towing to anyone in need of assistance along Interstate 85.

Time is money....

Now I can understand why your upset. But you have to look at the bigger picture and not just your little part in it. TIME IS MONEY!!! Especially a service that needs to be on call 24/7. Since you admit that this was an emercency situation, you have to accept that the pricing is going to be different then say making a appointment. There were many things you could have done to defer the costs. You could have went and got the second round of parts.

As for your other fees, you do realize that this is a business and not a charity organization?? You get that right?? They have to charge for EVERYTHING. Otherwise ppl like you who think they shouldnt have to pay are going to screw them. You had a problem, they came and fixed it, pay them. For a Tow plus mechanic work a grand sounds about right. Especially since the parts were also picked up. If you had to do the work there on the side of the road WITHOUT any help, you would probably still be working on it. You used this businesses Towing,Labor, Time, and expertise. What in all of this is the ripoff. YOU GOT OFF EASY!!!!'

There are tons of horror stories online about towing companies and mechanics. This SOUNDS pricey, but when you dig into EVEYTHING they did for you, the price sounds about right. This isnt a ripoff, this is someone complaining because the company or business they chose was more expensive then the price they had in thier head to pay. I would suggest that this mechanic went far and above what would normally be expected. As it looks like the work was being started the moment the vehicle got in.
