Just like so many others I sent a large sum of money ($992.50) plus Western Union fees to Rutledge, VT for "insurance" on a loan. I will not ramble about what happened to me because it is EXACTLY what happened to everyone else.
I have done all that I know to do to help law enforcement with this problem including reporting them to the local police dept., Better Business Bureau, federal trade commission, and numerous web sites such as this one, and also I have contacted the D.A. in Santa Rosa, CA, and have spoken with the state of Vermont, Rutledge district, who have had several reports of the same problem but from a trust company said to be based in Utah.
Every agency that I have spoke with is aware of the problem, but if they have any leads they sure will not tell me about it. The D.A. in Santa Rosa said that they checked out the address of Malibu, 418 Santa Rosa Ave, and it is a vacated building.
When I asked if they knew who was picking up the Moneygrams and Western Unions they would not answer, nor would they answer when I inquired about who the phone number, (888) 886-4818, was registered to.
If you search for Watermark Insurance scam on yahoo it will lead you to that office in Vermont, they are very helpful. Does anyone know what else I may do? If so PLEASE post!
